What is a
waterfall?
A waterfall is usually a body
of water resulting from
water, often in the form of a
stream, flowing over an
erosion-resistant rock
formation that forms a nick
point, or sudden break in
elevation.
Types of waterfalls
Block: Water descends from a relatively wide
stream or river.
Cascade: Water descends a series of rock
steps.
Cataract: A large, powerful waterfall.
Fan: Water spreads horizontally as it descends
while remaining in contact with bedrock.
Horsetail: Descending water maintains some
contact with bedrock.
Plunge: Water descends vertically, losing
contact with the bedrock surface.
Punchbowl: Water descends in a constricted
form and then spreads out in a wider pool.
Segmented: Distinctly separate flows of water

Cateel is the home of the
Aliwagwag Falls, located at
Barangay Aliwagwag. It is a towering
waterfalls considered by hydraulic
engineers as the highest in the
country and regarded as one of the
most beautiful falls in Mindanao. It is
a series of 84 falls appearing like
stairway to heaven with various
heights among the steps ranging
from 6 to 110 feet. One step is
measured 72 feet and another is
67 feet. Overall Aliwagwag Falls
is 1,110 feet of cascading energy

Falls ) is one of the most famed waterfalls in the
Philippines. The falls have grown into a major tourist
attraction for the region. Pagsanjan is most famous
for these falls in particular. The town itself dates
from early Spanish times and lies at the confluence
of two rivers, the Balanac and the Bumbungan. The
Pagsanjan Falls has a strong flow of tourists visiting
the area, tourists are ferried to the famed falls with a
traditional Filipino Banca Boat for a small fee. The
only pas sable route to it is the Bumbungan
River of Pa gsan jan. The bas e of the

City, Surigao del Sur in the southern
Philippine island of MIndanao. It is the
main tourist attraction in Bislig, a city
known as the Booming city by the bay.
The falls is approximately 55 metres
(180 ft) high, touted as the Niagara Falls
of the Philippines, Tinuy-an is a white
water curtain that flows in three levels. It
