Apple ten year sales and total net income

Measurement of central tendency

Sales Net income

Mean = $48.27 billion Standard deviation = 46.58 C.V. = 96.5%

Mean = $10.31 billion Standard deviation = 12.91 C.V. = 125.21 %

Interpretation
Standard deviation for sales of 46.58 means that the

average deviation of the sales distribution from the mean is 46.58. Standard deviation for net income of 12.91 means that the average deviation of the net income distribution from the mean is 12.91. Since the coefficient of variation (C.V) for sales of 96.5 % is less than C.V. for net income of 125.21%, the sales distribution for 10 years is more homogeneous or consistent.

Measurement of skewness
Sales Net income

Coefficient of skewness = 1.109 Since for sales is greater than 0, the sales distribution is positively skewed.

Coefficient of skewness = 1.28 Since for net income is greater than 0, the net income distribution is positively skewed.

Measurement of kurtosis
Sales Net income

Coefficient of kurtosis = 0.218 Since the value of for sales is less than 0.263, it is platykurtic.

Coefficient of kurtosis = 0.563 Since the value of for net income is more than 0.263, it is leptokurtic.

Measurement of Correlation
Correlation coefficient (r) = 0.020
The value of r = 0.020 shows that there is a very low

degree of positive correlation between the distribution of sales and total net income.

Measurement of Regression
The regression equation is given by: Y = a + b.X
The value of b = 0.0056 The value of a = 10.05

Hence the regression equation of Y on X is given by:

Y = 10.05 + 0.0056.X
