PROJECT PRESENTATION ON MANAGED SERVICES AND NETWORKING

TRAINING DETAILS: Duration: 23 July 2012 to 31 August 2012 Company: Bharti Airtel Enterprise Services,Udyog Vihar Phase IV Gurgaon Authorised Person: Mr.Rajesh Kumar

SUBMITTED BY: TUSHAR CHAWLA 2510010 ECE-A

MANAGED SERVICES

It is the practice of outsourcing day-to-day IT management responsibilities as a strategic method for improving operations. SERVICES OFFERED: Hardware as a Service(e.g Servers) Managed Security Data Back-up Patch management Software as a Service(e.g CRM,Email)

DATA CENTER MANAGED SERVICES(DCMS)

DCMS provides space and power,Or services build over a infrastructure e.g Storage On Demand.

Data Centers are changing in architecture, technologies, Efficiency focus and workload demands.

CLOUD COMPUTING
It is the use of resources (hardware and software) that are delivered as a service over a network (typically the internet).
Economically, the main appeal of cloud computing is that customers only use what they need and only pay what they actually use. Resources are available to be accessed from cloud at any time, via internet.

TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING

Software As A Service (SaaS) It is a software delivery model in which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. It is a common delivery model for many applications, as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Management Information System (MIS).

Platform As A Service (PaaS) It is a category of cloud computing services, that provide a computing platform and solution stack as a service. In this model, customers create softwares using tools and libraries from the provider.

Infrastructure As A Service (IaaS) in this cloud service model, providers offer computers,as physical or more often as virtual machines, and other resources. Other resources include Firewall,file-based storage,Virtual Local Area Networks(VLANs)

BASIC INTERNETWORK MODEL

How PC Bob communicate with PC Saly?
Bob is going to use MACs Media Access Control(MAC) Address, which is burned right into the network card of PC Saly. BOB SALY

How Bob get Saly`s MAC Address?

Bob is going to start with name resolution (hostname to IP address resolution), something that is usually accomplished by Domain Name Service( DNS) Address Resolution Protocol(ARP) performs the translation between the IP Addresses and MAC layer Addresses.

MULTI PROTOCOL LABEL SWITCHING (MPLS)

LABEL SWITCHING is a technique of relalying data packets more fastly to overcome the problems perceived by traditional IP-table switching. Each Packet is assigned a label number and switching takes after examination of each label.

MPLS is a mechanism in communication networks that directs data from one node to the next based on the short path labels rather than long network addresses.

IPV4 vs IPV6
The Limitations Of IPv4:
Insufficient IP Address space With only 32-bit capacity,IPv4 Addresses have become relatively scarce. The continued expansion of devices put increasing pressure on IPv4 address space. Address Prefix Allocation Due to the way IPv4 address prefixes have been allocated, internet backbone routers are required to maintain unreasonably large routing tables

Complexity of configuration
Most current IPv4 implementations are either manually configured or use complex protocol such as DHCP. Data Security Private communication, especially over internet, requires encryption services that protect the data from being viewed or modified in transit.

FEATURES OF IPV6
Larger Address Space
A vastly increased 128-bit provides a total of 3.4x10^38 unique addresses. Stateless Address Configuration To simplify host configuration,IPv6 supports both stateful address configuration(with DHCP) and stateful address configuration(auto configuration without DHCP) Built-in Security IPsec is a reqiurement for IPv6.This requirement provides standard based solution for network security needs.
