The final demonstration of what the gospel can do in and for humanity is still in the future. Christ showed the way. He took a human body, and in that body demonstrated the power of God. Men are to follow His example and prove that what God did in Christ, He can do in every human being who submits to Him. The world is awaiting this demonstration. (Romans 8: 19) When it has been accomplished, the end will come. God will have fulfilled His plan. He will have shown Himself true and Satan a liar. His government will stand vindicated.

All this is closely connected with the work of the Day of Atonement . On that day the people of Israel, having confessed their sins, were completely cleansed . They had already been forgiven ; now sin was separated from them .They were holy and without blame . The camp of Israel was clean ..

FOCUS ON JESUS IN THE HEAVENLY SANCTUARY!

The psalmist prays that God would send "help from the sanctuary." Ps. 20:2. He lifted up his hands "toward the oracle of thy sanctuary." Ps. 28:2, margin. See 1 Kings 6:19, 20. He calls upon the saints to "worship the Lord in his glorious sanctuary." Ps. 29:2, margin. He prays "to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary." Ps. 63:2. He speaks of the "goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary." Ps. 68:24, 29. In Ps. 78:54, he styles the land of Canaan "the border of the sanctuary." And in verses 68, 69, he testifies that God "built his sanctuary like high palaces" at Mount Zion in Judah. He "went into the sanctuary of God," and saw the end of the wicked. Ps. 73:17. He testifies that "thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary." Ps. 77:13. He predicts the future desolation of God's temple, or sanctuary. Ps. 74:3, 7; 79:1. In Ps. 96:6, he declares that "strength and beauty are in his sanctuary." And in verse 9, margin, he says, "O worship the Lord in the glorious sanctuary." "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Ps. 134:1, 2. "Praise God in his sanctuary." Ps. 150:1. {1872 JNA, S23D 59.1}

What Christ Is Waiting For? Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. It is the privilege of every Christian, not only to look for, but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel. Quickly the last great harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come to gather the precious grain. By giving the gospel to the world it is in our power to hasten our Lord's return. We are not only to look for but to hasten the coming of the day of God (2 Peter 3:12, margin). He has put it in our power, through cooperation with Him, to bring this scene of misery to an end.--Ed 264 (1903). {LDE 39.5}

What Christ Is Waiting For?

CHRIST IS WAITING FOR THE 144,000

The last book of the Bible is said to be a "revelation of Jesus Christ."Rev. 1 :1 . It traces the history of the Christian age to the final generation of saints who experience the restoration spoken of by the prophet Daniel . This community is called the 144,000 . They have the Father's name written in their foreheads, signifying the full restoration of God's image in the moral character . (713C 978 .) They are virgins, first fruits, and faultless before God's throne . (Rev . 14 :1-5 .) Through them God fulfills His purpose in the creation of man . They are "the revelation of Jesus Christ . "The manifold wisdom of God" is displayed through them . They are the supplement of Christ's glory . Through them, the entire earth is lighted with the glory of God. (Rev. 18 :1 .)

THEY REVEAL BY THEIR LIVES, THAT JESUS HAVE THE ABILITY TO SAVE COMPLETELY!
The last message of mercy to be given to the world is a revelation of His character of love. The children of God are to manifest His glory. In their own life and character they are to reveal what the grace of God has done for them.--COL 415, 416 (1900).

JESUS THE ONLY HOPE!

Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure.--TM 91, 92 (1895).

THEY WILL LIGHTEN THE EARTH WITH GODS GLORY

Num. 14:12-21. When Moses plead for Israel, God answered his prayer and promised that "all the earth shall be filled with the glory of God." This is the first promise of the loud cry. Ps. 72:19. David repeats the promise. Isa. 6:3. An heavenly seraphim assures Isaiah of the promise. Isa. 11:9. Isaiah repeats it. {1919 SNH, BHB 112.4}

Hab. 2:14. Again the promise is given. Eze. 43:2. Ezekiel saw the earth shining with the glory of God. Rev. 18:1, 2. John also saw the earth lightened with the glory of God. He heard the mighty cry of the angel in charge of this work. Six prophets of God have been permitted to see this great work which will be accomplished before Christ returns to the earth. T., v. 9, pp. 154, 209; v. 8, pp. 19-21; E.W. 37, 27, 277. {1919 SNH, BHB 112.7}

THE GLORY OF GOD IS HIS CHARACTER!

The third angel proclaims his message in no whispered tones, in no hesitant manner. He cries with a loud voice, while flying swiftly through the midst of heaven. This shows that the work of God's servants is to be earnest and rapidly performed. They must be brave witnesses for the truth. With no shame upon their countenances, with uplifted heads, with the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness shining upon them, with rejoicing that their redemption draweth nigh, they go forth declaring the last message of mercy to the world. {RC 347.3}

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. (REV. 14:9-12)

What will the Sealed ones Do? Servants of God, endowed with power from on high with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth to proclaim the message from heaven. Souls that were scattered all through the religious bodies answered to the call, and the precious were hurried out of the doomed churches, as Lot was hurried out of Sodom before her destruction. God's people were strengthened by the excellent glory which rested upon them in rich abundance and prepared them to endure the hour of temptation. I heard everywhere a multitude of voices saying, "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. EW 278.

STRIVE TO ENTER THE 144,000!

Revelation 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: *no hypocrisy; no dishonesty or falsehood.] for they are without fault before the throne of God. John saw a Lamb on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 having His Father's name written in their foreheads. They bore the signet of heaven. They reflected the image of God. They were full of the light and the glory of the Holy One. If we would have the image and superscription of God upon us, we must separate ourselves from all iniquity. We must forsake every evil way, and then we must trust our cases in the hands of Christ. While we are working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, God will work in us to will and to do of His own good pleasure. (RH March 19, 1889)

Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand. And let us do all that we can to help others to gain heaven. We are to have an intense interest in Christ Jesus; for he is our Saviour. He came to this world to be tempted in all points as we are, to prove to the universe that in this world of sin human beings can live lives that God will approve. {RH, March 9, 1905 par. 4}

It is the privilege of every soul to be a living channel through which God can communicate to the world the treasures of His grace, the unsearchable riches of Christ. There is nothing that Christ desires so much as agents who will represent to the world His Spirit and character. There is nothing that the world needs so much as the manifestation through humanity of the Saviour's love. All heaven is waiting for channels through which can be poured the holy oil to be a joy and blessing to human hearts. Christ has made every provision that His church shall be a transformed body, illumined with the Light of the world, possessing the glory of Emmanuel. It is His purpose that every Christian shall be surrounded with a spiritual atmosphere of light and peace. He desires that we shall reveal His own joy in our lives. The indwelling of the Spirit will be shown by the out-flowing of heavenly love. The divine fullness will flow through the consecrated human agent, to be given forth to others. {COL 419.4}

CHRIST IS WAITING!

For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp [that] burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. (Is. 62:1-3

CHRIST IS WAITING FOR OUR COOPERATION

CHRIST IS WAITING FOR OUR COOPERATION! Our eyes must be fixed on him and what he is doing for us in the heavenly sanctuary. "We are in the great day of atonement, and the sacred work of Christ for the people of God that is going on at the present time in the heavenly sanctuary should be our constant study ."5T 520. The final atonement is the blotting out of the record of sin . (PP 358.) But before this can take place, there must be an examination of the records to see who by repentance and faith have become eligible candidates for the final atonement.(GC 422, 480 . )

CHRIST IS WAITING FOR OUR COOPERATION!

The acceptance of Christ's atonement is the groundwork of true faith. . . . Those who will look long enough into the divine mirror to see and despise their sins, their unlikeness to the meek and lowly Jesus, will have strength to overcome. All who truly believe will confess and forsake their sins. They will cooperate with Christ in the work of bringing their hereditary and cultivated tendencies to wrong under the control of the divine will, so that sin shall not have dominion over them. Looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith, they will be changed into His likeness. They will grow up into the full stature of men and women in Christ Jesus. . . . Those who truly believe, who confess and forsake their sins, will grow more and more like Christ, until of them it can in heaven be said, "Ye are complete in him." Colossians 2:10. {OHC 117.3} "Ask, and it shall be given you" (Matthew 7:7) is the promise. Our part is to rest on the Word with unwavering faith, believing that God will do according to His promise. {OHC 117.4}

BEHOLDING JESUS CHRIST FORMED IN YOU IS THE HOPE OF GLORY!

(Exodus 33.18-19) (Exodus 34. 6-7) So the followers of Christ are to shed light into the darkness of the world. Through the Holy Spirit, God's word is a light as it becomes a transforming power in the life of the receiver. By implanting in their hearts the principles of His word, the Holy Spirit develops in men the attributes of God. The light of His glory--His character--is to shine forth in His followers. {COL 414.2} In the face of Jesus Christ. There "we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory," from righteousness to righteousness, from character to character, from goodness to goodness, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. {February 27, 1893 ATJ, GCDB 415.1}

BEHOLD JESUS LONG-SUFFERING

What, then, does the cleansing of the sanctuary mean to Jesus? What does the blotting out of sins mean to Him ? "Thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities . I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins ."Is . 43 :24, 25 .

For six thousand years Jesus has "borne our griefs and carried our sorrows." Even yet He is "wounded for our transgressions" and "bruised for our iniquities ." Not alone by looking back is Calvary beheld . The sanctuary above reflects the full dimension of Jesus sinbearing love . (GC489 . ) And He will suffer the pain and agony of the cross until His sanctuary is cleansed from our sin record.

BEHOLD THE GRACIOUSNESS OF THE LOVELY JESUS! Know you not that he loved us, and gave himself for us, that we in return should give ourselves to him? O that all the impenitent might see and understand that the Spirit of God is leading them with inexpressible solicitude and gracious importunity to the feet of Jesus. And he who was delivered for your offenses was raised for your justification, and is waiting to receive your homage. Why should not love to Christ be expressed to the world by all who receive him by faith, as verily as his love has been expressed to those for whom he died? {PH004 30.3}

"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn .-Zech . 12 :10. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Are you willing to be cleansed from all unrighteousness? . . . {TMK 242.4}

BEHOLD THE MERCIFULNESS OF THE LOVELY JESUS!

Believe the Word of God, keep looking unto Jesus, dwelling upon His virtues and mercies, and there will be created in the heart an utter abhorrence of that which is evil. You will be among those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. But the more closely we discern Jesus, the more clearly we shall see our own defects of character. {TDG 89.2} As we see our failings, let us confess them to Jesus, and, with true contrition of soul, cooperate with the divine power of the Holy Spirit to overcome all evil. If we confess our sins, we must believe that they are pardoned, because the promise is positive. --Review and Herald, March 21, 1912. {TDG 89.3}

OUR PRESENT DUTY!

Those who would share the benefits of the Savior's mediation should permit nothing to interfere with their duty to perfect holiness in the fear of God. The precious hours, instead of being given to pleasure, to display, or to gain seeking, should be devoted to an earnest, prayerful study of the word of truth. The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves of the position and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time or to occupy the position which God designs them to fill. Every individual has a soul to save or to lose. Each has a case pending at the bar of God. Each must meet the great judge face to face. How important, then, that every mind contemplate often the solemn scene when the judgment shall sit and the books shall be opened, when, with Daniel, every individual must stand in his lot, at the end of the days.

ANTI-TYPE Heb.10:25 Gods people shall not forsake the assembling of themselves together as the end draws near Luke 21:34-36; Isa. 22:12-14 The admonition is, "Watch,. . and, pray always, and avoid surfeiting and drunkenness. 1 Thess. 5:23; Rom. 12:I. The whole spirit, and soul, and body are to be fully consecrated to God.

Cleanse the Soul Temple

The latter rain is to fall upon the people of God. A mighty angel is to come down from heaven, and the whole earth is to be lighted with His glory. Are we ready to take part in the glorious work of the third angel? Are our vessels ready to receive the heavenly dew? Have we defilement and sin in the heart? If so, let us cleanse the soul temple, and prepare for the showers of the latter rain. The refreshing from the presence of the Lord will never come to hearts filled with impurity. May God help us to die to self, that Christ, the hope of glory, may be formed within! I must have the spirit of God in my heart. 1 can never go forward to do the great work of God, unless the Holy Spirit rests upon my soul. As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after thee, 0 God. The day of judgment is upon us. 0 that we may wash our robes of character, and make them white in the blood of the Lamb! A Special Work of Purification Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling. Through the grace of God and their own diligent efforts, they must be conquerors in the battle with evil. While the investigative judgment ,S going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away sin, among God's people on earthReview and Herald, Jan.17, 1907, page 8.
