Existence of Amul

As we know that Amul is the largest cooperative dairy in Asia. Such success would not have been possible if it would not have been existed. So first of all let us see the existence of Amul i.e. who is behind its existence.

Dr.Verghese Kurien who is also well-known as The Father of White Revolution in India.

He is also known as the brains behind the success of the largest dairy development programme in the world by the name of Operation flood which is also known as the Milkman of India.

He was born in 26-november-1921 and had graduated in physics from Loyola college, Madras & also graduated in B.E. (Mechanical)

from the Madras Universities.


He has also done Masters in Mechanical

engineering and had also done training at T.S.C.O. Institute at Jamshedhpur & also in National Dairy Research Institute at Bangalore.

He then joined government service And became the Dairy engineer at the Government Research Creamery, a small milk powder Factory in Anand. When the newly from CO-operative dairy Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers

Union Ltd (KDCMPUL) was waging a grim battle for survival with the Behemoth Polson Dairy. So Dr. Verghese Kurien left his Govt. job and volunteered to help the (KDCMPUL) to set up a processing plant. This led to the success story that is AMUL.
