These are the answers provided on “How to Download:”
Before you download
Before you download, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
 You must have a license for the product(s) you download; and
 You must have a Volume License Product Key for any products that require one.
To determine the products you are licensed to download, please go to your eOpen account or MVLS account to review your license
agreements and ensure your download rights.

What products can I download on this site?


This site features Microsoft’s newest software downloads for:
2007 Microsoft Office System
Additional downloads, such as Windows Vista and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, will be available as new software is released. Check back
often to install the latest downloads.

How do I obtain other Microsoft downloads?

If you have a Microsoft Volume License Services (MVLS) account, sign-in to MVLS to find additional downloads.
If you have an eOpen account, sign-in to eOpen and contact your reseller or partner to obtain media for other products .

What is a Volume License Product Key?

A Volume License Product Key (VLK) is a product key issued to a customer under a specific license agreement. VLKs can only be used with
Volume Licensing products; they cannot be used with retail full-packaged products or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) CD products.

Note: VLKs are assigned to and intended for the sole use of your organization. You will be held responsible for unauthorized use of product
keys issued under your agreement. Take measures to keep your key(s) secure.

How do I get my Volume License Product Keys?
Open Value, Select and Enterprise customers can sign-in to MVLS to access their VLKs.
Open License customers can sign-in to eOpen to access their VLKs.

How do I Select Download Settings?


After you click on a product title, you will go to the Select Download Settings page. This page includes:

Download Information: Including file name, version and file size range.

Language: Select the language for your download using the drop-down list. (Note: Some downloads are not available in all languages.)

Download Format: Select your download file format.


 Files downloaded in the .EXE format have self-extracting setup files.
 Files downloaded in the .ISO format must be written to a blank CD or DVD.

Connection Speed: Select the connection speed of your internet service provider (ISP).

Operating System Type: Select the bit size of your operating system.

I Acknowledge: When required, click the “I acknowledge” box after you have read and accept the licensing terms and conditions for this
download.
Overview: Explains the product and its benefits in more detail.
System Requirements: When available, check the System Requirements to be sure your system meets the requirements to install and run the
download. This section may also list required or recommended application software.
Instructions: When available, review the Instructions before you download. Always follow the instructions for proper installation.
Additional Information: When available, additional information provides important directions related to the current download.

What are .EXE and .ISO files?
.EXE files are launched directly from the machine they are downloaded on. These files cannot be made into separate boot disks for installation
on other computers.
.ISO files are exact representations of a CD or DVD, including the content and the logical format.

How do I download .ISO files?


There are 3 methods to download products as ISO files:
1. Use CD-R software to download an image file and write it to a blank CD-R or DVD-R.
2. Open and copy ISO image files and their contents to a local folder, much like ZIP files.
3. Virtually mount and access ISO files as a device.

Why should I use the Download Manager?


To help you download large file sizes, Microsoft recommends using the Download Manager. You can easily pause, resume, and stop the
download process. Use the Download Manager for efficient installations, time-saving features, and automatic restarting if the download process
is interrupted.

How do I use the Download Manager software?


The download manager installation automatically begins once you click Download Now under the Download Manager option.
1. Click on a product to download. On the next page Select Your Settings. Click Next.
2. On the Begin Download page, confirm your settings and choose Download Now under the Download Manager option.
If you have not already installed ActiveX control or the Java™ applet, an information box will appear in your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser
prompting you to install “ActiveX control:…”.

3. Click on the Information Bar and select “Install ActiveX Control…”

4. A dialog box will open to install the Download Manager software from Akamai Technologies, Inc. Choose install.

5. After the Download Manager is installed, a Save As dialog box will open. Choose a location to save the download to, then select Save.
Installation of the Download Manager software is complete and the Download Manager window opens to begin installing your product download.

If I use the Download Manager, how do I start downloads?


1. Click on a product to download. On the next page Select Your Settings. Click Next.
2. On the Begin Download page, confirm your settings and choose Download Now under the Download Manager option.
3. If you have installed the ActiveX control or the Java™ applet, the Download Manager window opens to help you manage the download
process.
If you have not installed ActiveX control the ActiveX control or the Java™ applet, you will be prompted to install the software before downloading
the product.
4. When the download is complete, you will return to the Begin Downloads page where you can select other download parts if required, or find
other products to download.

If I use my web browser, how do I install downloads?


1. Click on a product to download then Select Your Settings on the next page. Click Next.
2. On the Begin Download page, confirm your settings and choose Download Now under the Web Browser option.
3. In the File Download dialog box select Save.
4. In the Save As dialog box choose a location to save the download to, then select Save.
5. If you want to install the file immediately after the download is finished, select Open.
6. If you do not want to immediately install the file, select Close. When you are ready to install the download, double-click the download file to
launch the installation wizard.

How do I install downloads with multiple parts?


Some products have multiple parts to download. Multiple parts allow you to install products with large file sizes in smaller blocks of data and
time. Download parts are selected and installed individually. After the part is installed, your browser will return to the Begin Download page
where you can select another part to download.

Troubleshooting the download process


If you encounter trouble downloading, try these suggestions:

Clear Your Cache


If you cannot complete a download, you may need to clear the cache in your Microsoft Internet Explorer. Follow these steps to clear your cache:
1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options and then click the General tab.
2. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files and then click the OK button if you would like to empty your entire cache of
temporary internet files.
3. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings. In the Settings dialog box, select Every visit to the page. Then set the size of the
Temporary Internet Files folder to a size larger than your intended download. Next, click the View Files button.
4. In the Temporary Internet Files window that opens, open the Edit menu and click Select All. Press DELETE. When you are asked if you would
like to delete all the cookies you have selected, click Yes. Click the OK buttons until you return to the General tab.
5. In the History section of the General tab, click Clear History and then click Yes. When you are asked if you would like to delete the history of
the Web sites you have visited, click OK.

Connection Terminating
If your Internet service provider (ISP) connection has been idle for too long while a download is loading, your connection may automatically
terminate. Please contact your ISP to disable the automatic termination of your connection when downloading files.

The Download Manager can not install


If the Download Manager can not install the ActiveX control or the Java™ applet in your browser, you may have system restrictions. If you have
system restrictions, please:
 Download products using the Web Browser method, or
 Contact your organization’s Administrator to download products using the Download Manager method.
