Modern History is market by Renaissance rebirth , a period which also marks the development of new techniques in the field of art, science and literature. Year 1804, one of the greatest military strategist of modern history Napoleon Bonaparte started his rule. Colonial era of France began in year 1534 and ended in 1980 when Independent nation of Vanuatu was created.

France is a secular country and almost 40% of its population is ethnically not French. Avg. life expectancy is 78 for males and 85 for females. France derives 79% of its energy requirements from nuclear power. Most popular tourist destination iin the world with about 78 million tourists visits annually.
