Current Issues
IAEA rated the nuclear accident at Fukushima as Level 7 major accident on the INES scale IAEA sent a dedicated Action Team under Deputy Director General to Fukushima April 2011 Meeting in Austria to Scrutinize safety at each others facilities (Peer Review) IAEA halved its estimate of additional nuclear generating capacity to be built by 2035
Current Issues
IAEA published a report on Iran using the nuclear facilities for weapon production and testing in contravention to its NPT obligations
2008 Agreement on Nuclear safeguards for civilian nuclear facilities When fully implemented, will serve as the framework for importing of both nuclear reactors and the fuel to power them over their lifetime.
IAEA implemented the new Safeguards Agreement in 2009 to bring 14 Indian reactors under Agency safeguards by 2014.
2010 :India signed the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage
CAG of India appointed as an external auditor to IAEA
