INTRODUCTION
Like the adults , kids also require different type of
garments.
The requirement may different from place to place and
from time to time.
Garments help kids to remain hygienic and comfortable.

The sensitive nature of a kids skin makes stringent
requirements for production and design of kids garments.

Kids wear in India constitutes an important target market
segment today and merits attention from a marketing
perspective, since the segment is growing almost at the
rate of 15% per annum .

ENGINEERING OF KNITTED GARMENT FABRICS
1. Fabric Composition
Cotton is mostly used because cotton is associated with
physical and psychological comfort and was viewed as
youthful, honest, pure and dependable.
2.Yarn Characteristics
Yarn of Ring Frame/Open End/ Airjet is used by considering
different property like pill resistant, abrasion resistant and
bursting strength.
3.Fabric Structure
Fabric handle is better with single jersey knitted fabric.
Single jersey fabric is physically lighter and thinner required
less energy to bend, compress and shear than others. It also
affects dimensional stability, shrinkage, durability, abrasion
resistance comfort.

Dyeing Requirement:
Yarn dyed fabrics were required for the striped products as they
are more evenly coloured and colour fast than printed stripes.

All other fabrics for the products were required to be piece-dyed
as it is the easiest and the least expensive stage for adding colour
and probably the most common.

For babies, organic cotton is preferable than the regular
ones.
Organic baby clothes made from this type of cotton are
less likely to cause rashes on the sensitive skin of baby.
Moreover, ecofriendly baby clothing manufactured with
organic cotton is more breathable than conventional
cotton.
Bamboo fabric is also hypoallergenic, organic clothing
is made out of soya fiber helps in keeping the baby
warm and at the same time prevents moisture to build up
inside the clothing.

CONCLUSION
Last couple of years Indian market has been tremendous change
in undergarments category . Entry of several international
brands shows the potential of the segment. However, desired
attention is due to the kids wear undergarments.
Income of peoples increased, therefore increased demand for
garments.
Kids wear in India constitutes an important target market
segment today and merits attention from a marketing
perspective.
The segment is growing almost at the rate of 15% per annum,
which offers a great opportunity for apparel firms to prepare
newer strategies for this untapped category.
