What is Industrial Training?
From the EAC manual 2012
It is an exposure to professional engineering practice
in an engineering-practice environment
Industrial training shall be for a minimum of 8 weeks
of continuous training. One credit hour is allocated for
every two weeks of training subject to a maximum of
six credit hours. The training shall be adequately
structured, supervised and recorded in log
books/report. The industrial training must be
conducted before the final semester
From the EAC Manual 2012
Familiarity with all common engineering processes is
essential and exposure at a practical level to a wide variety of
processes is required at a level appropriate to the young
professional
.it is clearly desirable for students to get a feel of the skills
involved, however, the central aim is to achieve appreciation,
not to acquire craft skills.
..many of the latest processes and large scale or costly
operations can only be the subject of observation or
demonstration, and visits to engineering works may be
helpful in many such cases.

Objectives of Industrial
Training..from our perspective..
Expose students to
engineering practices in the
industrial sector under the
supervision of experienced
engineer or technical staff.
Expose students on matters
relating to human relations,
engineering management,
human resource management
and the like in the industrial
sector.
Programme Outcome mapped
to Industrial Training
The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual
knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural
issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to
professional engineering practice;
Ethics - Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics
and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice;
Communication - Communicate effectively on complex engineering
activities with the engineering community and with society at
large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective
reports and design documentation, make effective
presentations, and give and receive clear instructions;
Individual and Team Work - Function effectively as an individual,
and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multi-disciplinary
settings;
Life Long Learning - Recognise the need for, and have the
preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long
learning in the broadest context of technological change.
