Electrocution?
An electric shock which may lead to death is
termed as Electrocution.

Types of electrical/mechanical accidents:
1. Fatal accident &
2. Non- fatal accident
Severity of the shock depends on:

Amount of current flowing
Duration of shocking current
Effect of current on Human Body

Electrical energy is the most commonly used form of energy.
life without electricity is next to impossible.
Electricity is a great friend but the worst enemy.
It can cause instantaneous death or life long disability if the
shock is severe.
It is, therefore, absolutely essential that one should know
what precautions to take while using electricity.

Confirm the LC details twice if possible.
Hang Danger boards at all strategic places to ensure safety at
work spot.
Ensure that the work area is safe.
Nominate one among the team exclusively to keep a close watch
and ensure that every person in the team is safe.
Earthing is to be provided on both sides of the work spot before
proceeding with the work.
All safety rules are to be followed till entire work is completed.
No person shall be allowed work if he is under the influence of
alcoholic drinks.
Immediate replacement of worn out conductor
Provide proper guarding at specific locations
Proper maintenance of tc , dist. Box & its earthing
Tightening of loose spans
Providing spacers
Proper maintenance of ab switch and fuses
Avoid line crossings and provide proper clearance
Preventive procedures
Dual power locations- provide caution boards like dual
power or danger boards
Proper joints and jumpers
Connection through lugs of proper size
Check the insulation of wiring and provide LT PVC tape
where ever required
Contacts should be perfectly fit
