SWOT ANALYSIS

SWOT analysis is an instrument of strategic management, of understanding the


environment and organization, of strategic suggestions.

Strengths= abilities which give competitive advantages to the organisation
Weaknesses= Features which generate competitive disadvantages
Opportunities= Outside factors which produce advantages to the organisation
Threats= Outside factors which produce advantages to the organisation

Romanian educational system
S STRENGHTS

1. The school has an important role in the education and the building of the young generation
2. In the traditional moral values system( family, school and church) school is most important
3. The compulsory system is free
4. In school, the students which are well-prepared and skilled receive special attention
5. Equal opportunities to all students
6. The majority of the teachers have vocational skills for this job
7. The didactical norm of 18 hours -in high school offers enough time to the teachers to study and improve
their knowledge
8. The highest number of 25 students in the class offers the possibility to organize activities which support
the post modern didactic: learning by cooperation, differential and individual treatment, teamwork, etc
9. Financial support for the students with a bad material situation (scholarships, the 200 Euro program, etc.)
10. The program The horn and the milk attracts toward education several students with a low standard of
living
11. The education for minorities is organized in mother tongue at all levels and education forms
12. Financial possibilities of stimulating and motivating the teachers
13. Investments in schools infrastructure ( consolidations, rebuilding, school campus)
W- WEAKNESSES

1. The inadequate curriculum to the needs of different ages and interests of the students
2. Curriculum based on memorizing, large amount of notions, concepts, reduced abilities of adaptation to the real
world
3. The teaching process is often understood as: I teach and you must learn/know
4. The lack of equipment, special features and auxiliary teachers in order to ease the learning through action process
5. Assessment based on knowledge and not on skills
6. The inabilities teachers who are not able and do not have the required skills to get informed and to understand,
which leads to scepticism when approaching educational problems
7. The weak communication between the theoreticians and leaders of the Ministry and the practicians which apply
the rules
8. Very low and unattractive salaries
9. The modality to advance and to lead by the motto according to the age
10. The evaluation of the teachers performance is forma
11. Dismissing jobs in education
12. The unstable measures and the confusion created by the often reforms
13. The conservative attitude of some teachers in organizing their classes, in centrating the teachers activity on the
students needs, in informatizing the educational system.

11. Professional shaping of the teachers; the variety of formation and improvement courses organized by
CCD, ONG, universities
T- THREATS
1. Lack of young and well prepared teachers due to the wages and the hierarchy manner
2. The young generation is often ahead of the old generation who cannot keep up with the young one
3. The young generation doesnt pay anymore so much attention to the school and their building in school
4. routine in the system
5. The assessment system and performance of both students and teachers is inadequate to the real values of the
nowadays society
6. The segregation of the society will lead to the segregation of the school
7. the decrease of the number of children will lead to the closing of the schools
8. the tendency of moving the teaching process from the school at home (tutoring classes, additional classes,
etc)
9. the evolution speed of the society leads to quick mutations regarding social requests when talking about the
education of the students in schools
10. a subjective evaluation system of the didactic competences, based on group interests, relationships
(decentralization )
11. The ebbing of teachers prestige
