CARS:

Quality of work life refers to the level of happiness or
dissatisfaction with one's career

QWL is described as the favorable working environment that
supports and promotes satisfaction by providing employees
with rewards, job security, career growth opportunities, etc.

It basically talks about the methods in which an organization
can ensure the holistic well-being of an employee instead of
just focusing on work-related aspects

organizations must focus on the overall development and
happiness of the employee and reducing his/her stress levels.
To retain a good talent, organization should have low stress
level and high quality of work life.

Each organization has its own way of achieving this. But the
most common element adopted are:

Factors influencing Quality
of work life:

Employment relations
Work environment
Organization strategies
Job designation
Organizational culture
Workers attitude and
behaviour

Measures for improving Quality
of work life:

Organizational communication
Support
Trust
Leadership
Monetary compensation
Non monetary compensation

To improve the standard of living of the employees

To increase the productivity

To create a positive attitude in the minds of the
employees

To increase the effectiveness of the organization
(Profitability, goal accomplishment etc.)

Hack man (1980)
Hack man identified that the work environment that is able to
fulfill employees personal needs is considered to provide a positive
interaction effect, which will lead to an excellent QWL.

Cunningham and Eberle (1990)
Cunningham and Eberle emphasized that the personal needs are
satisfied when rewards from the organization, such as compensation,
promotion, recognition and development meet their expectations

Saraji and Dargahi (2006)
Saraji and Dargahi explained QWL as a comprehensive,
department wide program designated to improve employee
satisfaction, strengthening workplace learning

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

Rethinam (2008)
According to Rethinam QWL is a multi-dimensional construct,
made up of a number of interrelated factors that need careful
consideration to conceptualize and measure. It is associated with job
satisfaction, job involvement, motivation, productivity, health, safety
and well-being, job security, competence development and balance
between work and non work life

Hosseini and Jorjatki (2010)
Hosseini and Jorjatki concluded that the career satisfaction, career
achievement and career balance are not only the significant variables
to achieve good quality of work life but quality of work life (QWL) or
the quality of work system as one of the most interesting methods
creating motivation and is a major way to have job enrichment
