Identification of Risks and Mitigation
Instruments:

Type of risks

Mitigating Instruments

Currency risk

Mixing local currency and foreign currency
loans and equity
Indexing output prices to the exchange rate
Obtaining contingency sponsor support
Establishing escrow account
Obtaining government guarantee for foreign
exchange availability and convertibility
Inflation risk Provision for indexing inflation into output
price
Interest rate risk Loan for fixed interest rate
Converting floating rate to fixed rate
Swap interest rate
Financing/Financial risk Ability to start project on equity
Interaction/comfort letters from potential
lenders
Sequencing of loan repayments with cash
flows
Creating reserve to avoid default in debt
servicing

Type of risks

Mitigating Instruments
Environmental risk Legal compliance
Limit contamination within set standards
Pay outstanding compensation claims
Political risk (including change in law) Good regulatory structure
Share with the government through contract
for compensation, extending contract term,
temporary payment to pay loan repayment
Purchase political risk insurance from multi-
lateral agency
Include local investors and lenders in
financing
Purchase raw material from local markets
Force Majeure risk Insurance policies for general force majeure
events
Summit Power will generate
electricity by water steam!!!
How????
The Answer is
Steam Turbine Engine

What is Steam Turbine Engine and
how it really works

???
When Under Pressure at high temperature steam
has a potential energy called ENTHALPHY
Same as pressure cooker

The steams are first accumulated in a pressured tank.

The cold source helps to accumulate more steams in a tank.
To recover the potential energy of the steam, the steams are
led thru a series of blades.
So steam go through the
blades and the blades
moves!!!!!

How???

Look Carefully the blades
again
With turbine moving it is attached to a generator
and the generator creates electricity that is added
to the national grid for consumption
After some theory lets see
some original footage how they
are building the plant.

As we have seen that how steam turbine really works now
question is about resources. So steam turbine really need
the following things:
1.Turbine engine
2.Boiler to heat water to steam.
3.Fuel to heat the boiler.
4.Lots and lots of water.
5.A place where all the process will
be done.
Turbine engine was brought from China.
Boiler was brought from China.
Natural Gas or Coal will be used to heat the boiler
For lots and lots of water river is the best choice and for a place
where all these things can done was chosen in Sylhet
Major challenges faced by project managers
Evacuating people who lived by the selected site for the
project.
Rehabilitation of those people.
Recruiting those people for the project as their earning
land may have to used for the project.
Local mastans and political affiliates.
Bringing the machines and equipment's from China to
Habiganj.
Risk of submerging of machines and equipment due to
bad weather and the poor deepness in rivers of
Bangladesh.
Sudden reduction of water level in the river.
Very soft soil of Sylhet to bear the heavyness of hundreds
of tons of steel in specific places.

This is how they solved the problem so far
They were able to evacuate the land with the help of government and an
agreement was signed between them and people that they will be recruited to
work.
Bringing the machines and equipment's from China to Habiganj
They brought all the heavy equipment by water

There was risk of submerge..but they were able to do it.
