Decision on certification will be depending on:


- strategy for longer term, investments
- product development
- abilty and willingness adapt to quality requirements for export

FSC certification of bamboo has started in South America. It will also take place
in Asia, but at this moment there is a significant time-advantage for South
America

3.

The market is looking for new products like OSB panels and laminated beams for
constructional purposes. Certification has proved to be useful to open markets
and enter. It can also help to find investors or partners for Joint Ventures.

Conclusiones

4. FSC certification is an instrument! And this instrument can be used by


different stakeholders for different purposes. One of the strengths of
FSC is that is brings together these different stakeholders and creates
many synergies.
5. We can draw paralels between the development in the past of FSC
timber products and the expectation for FSC bamboo products. A
combination of national and international markets is preferable.
