Introduction:

In this project we have to control different devices by hand gesture

using WSN based Zigbee/RF.

WSN based Zigbee network has been extensively used in

monitoring and controlling purpose of devices .

Wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has demonstrated a

great potential for industrial, commercial and consumer
applications.

Simply by a hand gesture or showing number of fingers, we can

make devices to turn ON or OFF.

Literature survey:

The demanding constraints for process of monitoring and

control applications pose many challenges to the
implementation of WSNs to the industrial field.

In this paper we have surveyed various issues relating to

implementing the WSN technology to process monitoring
and control.

Existing systems.

Objectives of proposed work:

Controlling of different devices using hand gesture.
To implement Graphical User Interface (GUI) using
MATLAB.
Implementation of automatic mode by using
embedded.
To control devices using manual mode.

Block diagram:

ARM7LPC2148:
ARM7LPC2148 microcontroller socket is used with
LPC2148 pro development board.
It is a stand alone board for LPC2148 microcontroller.
It has 12MHz crystal for system clock and 32khz crystal
for RTC.

SENSOR:

Sensor is a converter that measure physical quantity

and converts it into a signal which can be ready by an
observer or by an instrument.

Driver:

A driver typically communicates with the device through

the computer via bus or communications subsystem to
which the hardware connects.

LCD:

LCDs are available to display arbitrary images (as in a

general purpose computer display) or fixed images
which can be displayed or hidden, such as preset words,
digits and 7-segment displays.

Camera:

Camera used in Hand mote prototype is a simple Web

camera.

PC:

We make the use of PC for MATLAB programming and

coding.

Zigbee/RF:

Power supply:

The microcontroller and other devices get power

supply from AC to DC adapter through 7805, 5 volts
regulator.

The 7805/7812 voltage regulators are used to convert

12 V to 5V/12V DC.

Working:

Device-1: Index finger indicates that device1 will be on.

Index finger along with a thumb indication will turn off
the device-1.

Device-2: Showing any two fingers will turn on the

device-2. Same fingers along with thumb will off the
device.

Device-3: Showing any three fingers will turn on the

device-3. Same fingers along with thumb will make the
device off.

12

Device-4: Showing first four fingers will turn on the

device-4. Same fingers along with thumb will off the
device.

Software:
In

our project we use some of the softwares like:

Embedded C.
Proteus.
MATLAB.
Express PCB.

14

Applications:

15

Applications:
For home appliance
Television, refrigerator,

computer game.

In industries
For light and exhaust fan on/off.
In temperature controlling.

In college/office
For controlling temperature of air conditioner.
