What is CIVIL SERVICES?


The Civil Services are the highest services of the Govt.
of India.
IAS and IPS are considered as All India Services as
these Officers are allotted to any of the 28 States and
also they are required to serve in the Govt. of India.

The Civil Services is a symbol of National Integration as


the Civil Servant provide a common character to the
Govt. Service.

To become an I.A.S/I.P.S officer you
should pass the
Civil Services
Examination, which is conducted by the
UNION
PUBLIC
SERVICE
COMMISSION.
(UPSC)
This
examination is conducted every year to
select candidates for IPS and other 21
other services.

Civil Service Examination comprises three stages.

I.Civil Services (Preliminary) exam

Paper 2 CSAT
: 200 Marks
(80 Questions)
(Each paper is of 2 hours duration)

II. Civil Services (Main) Written
9 papers -1750 marks

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany,
Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Electrical
Engineering, Geography, Geology, Indian History, Law,
Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Sciences,
Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public
Administration, Sociology, Statistics & Zoology and
Literature of any one of the Indian Languages.
