Hypnosis Birthing

A Gentle Way to Give Birth

Background Information
Mongan founded Hypnobirthing in 1989
Certified as many as 1,500 pratictioners
Hospitals and other members of the
medical community recognize the
technique

What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is based on the belief that birth
is natural and healthy.
Therapists teach women how to self-hypnotize:
using very slow breathing methods- coinciding
with the bodys natural surges
The woman gives birth while experiencing a
daydreaming sensation.

What Pain?
There is no pathological reason for pain
in childbirth. There is nothing that actually
malfunctions. Its tension and fear and
interventions that cause the
malfunctioning, - Marie Mongan, founder

of Hypnobirthing

The effects of language

Language has a physiological effect on
the way we think of things.
Energy follows thought.
If we control our thought, then we keep
the energy where we want it.
LuAnne Daly (certified hypnotherapist)

Philosophy
Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy as it is a
technique. It is a rewarding, relaxing, stress-free
method of birthing that is based on the belief
that when a mother is properly prepared for
birthing physically, mentally, and spiritually, she
can experience the joy of birthing her baby in an
easier, more comfortable, and often even pain
free, manner.

Just a special word of thanks for

introducing us to HypnoBirthing from
both Marie and I. We had a very
positive experience. Our beautiful little
daughter, Risn, was born without the
need for medical intervention and
without the dreaded epidural (or any
other pain relief) on the 10th January,
2003 weighing in at 7lbs 5oz. Mother
and baby were both extremely relaxed,
to that point that immediately after the
post natal bonding and cutting of the
cord, Marie popped off for a shower
and walked back to the ward. - The
