INTRODUCTION
DEM is digital representation of a topographic surface.
DTM may actually be a more generic term for any digital representation
of a topographic surface, but it is not so widely used
Uses of DEMs
determining attributes of terrain, such as elevation at any point, slope
and aspect
finding features on the terrain, such as drainage basins and watersheds,
drainage networks and channels, peaks and pits and other landforms
modeling of hydrologic functions, energy flux and forest fires

Objectives :
Generate DEM/ DTM and orthophoto from cartosat 1 satellite Data using RPCs

prepare a slop map.

Conclusion
Overall, remote sensing-based DEM extraction can provide essential geographic
information and a basis for analysis of remote, rugged, or mountainous areas,
especially in the absence of other data sources. Advantages ascribed to this
methodology include: cost-effectiveness, timeliness, and equal access to high
spatial resolution data. This methodology can quickly provide a basis for
building an accurate and powerful GIS land management database .
This project has demonstrated the procedures used to import, process, and
display GIS data in a manner which increases the usefulness of the data at hand .
DEM extraction from stereo imagery will likely become an increasingly useful
tool .
