V d 1: Industrial Management
Thit lp cc xut nghin cu Numerous cellular phone
subscription services and cellular phones with novel functions have led
to fierce competition among domestic and global manufacturers in the
Taiwan market. Besides sound marketing strategies, efficiently
transporting and effectively managing inventory are essential to
enhancing operational performance.
Vn nghin cu However, manufacturers lack an objective
assessment criterion when selecting the transportation flow of
commodities, with previous research on inventory control strategies for
cellular phones adopting conventional mathematical approaches.
Moreover, cellular phone manufacturers attempting to effectively
respond to fluctuations in demand in the middle and downstream
markets did not consider the delay between transportation and ordered
quantities in available stock, i.e. an important factor in operational
performance.

V d 1 (cont.)
c im k thut nh lng ca vn nghin cu For instance, manufacturers
having not estimated transportation of ordered goods and stock inventory must rely on
the subjective judgment of corporate management. While only 37% of all Taiwanese
enterprises implement inventory management practices, only 19% have significantly
improved in operational performance. The stock policy, stock cost, service level and
lack of an effective strategy can be analyzed using a dynamic model. A criterion to
assess the operational performance of enterprises can be designed based on
interviews with experts n the field. According to Project Periodical (2002), effective
stock inventory control can reduce warehouse space requirements equivalent to a
savings of 17% in overhead costs. Management Journal (2003) indicated that
effectively managing ordered quantities can enhance operational performance even
more than effectively controlling inventory and transporting ordered quantities can.
Tm quan trng ca vn nghin cu The inability to improve the transportation of
orders and inventory control makes it impossible to forecast estimated orders, the
interflow of commodities, storage management practices, fluctuations in market
demand, and changes in the operational performances of cellular phone manufacturers
in Taiwan. Moreover, cellular phone manufacturers lack an objective criterion to
assess the transportation of commodities to determine their cost effectiveness, leading
to erroneous decisions involving the transportation of ordered quantities and inventory
control.

V d 1 (cont.)
Mc tiu nghin cu Based on the above, we should
develop an AHP-based optimal decision making model to
strengthen the transportation of ordered quantities and
effectively manage inventory control by analyzing the
transportation of ordered quantities and inventory control of
cellular phone manufacturers in order to enhance operational
performance.
Phng php t c mc tiu nghin cu To do so,
the transportation of ordered quantities and inventory control
can be evaluated objectively by AHP. The transportation of
ordered quantities and inventory control can then be analyzed
using a dynamic model. Next, a criterion to assess the
operational performance of enterprises can be designed
based on interviews with experts in the field.

V d 1 (cont.)
Kt qu d kin As anticipated, in addition to identifying the
most economical production circumstances, transportation
procedure and most effective inventory policy, the proposed
AHP-based optimal decision making model can adopt the
best criterion to assess the performance of cellular phone
manufacturers.
ng gp trong lnh vc l thuyt v thc tin Moreover,
the proposed model can be used to establish a set of
objective decision systems not only for cellular phone
manufacturers lacking sufficient time and cost analysis data
to select the most effective means of managing
transportation of ordered quantities and inventory control,
but also for researchers attempting to assess the
operational performance of those manufacturers.

V d 2: Healthcare Management
Thit lp cc xut nghin cu Hospitals highly prioritize

customer satisfaction as an important performance index that can

increase customer loyalty and, ultimately, hospital revenues.

Vn nghin cu However, Taiwanese hospitals lack a uniform

questionnaire on customer satisfaction, making it impossible to compare

satisfaction levels as the questionnaire contents vary among each
hospital.

c im k thut nh lng ca vn nghin cu For

instance, while each hospital conducts an annual query on customer

satisfaction, adopting measures to improve customer relations has
generally yielded a poor outcome.

Tm quan trng ca vn nghin cu The inability to create a

uniform questionnaire on customer satisfaction nationwide makes it

impossible for academic researchers to fully understand the overall level
of customer satisfaction in Taiwan, possibly causing hospital
administrators to make the wrong policy decisions.

V d 2 (cont.)
Mc tiu nghin cu Based on the above, we should develop a
questionnaire on customer satisfaction that can objectively survey the
market demand and consumer preferences in hospitals island wide.
Phng php t c mc tiu nghin cu To do so, a
questionnaire on customer satisfaction can be designed based on
interviews with hospital administrators and relevant documentation.
Questions deemed inappropriate can then be deleted following item
analysis and factor analysis. Next, the questionnaire can be submitted to
patients at Hsinchu General Hospital, with those results subsequently
analyzed.
Kt qu d kin As anticipated, the proposed questionnaire on customer
satisfaction can provide a uniform standard for hospitals island wide to
assess the current market demand and customer satisfaction.
ng gp trong lnh vc l thuyt v thc tin In addition to providing
an objective means of determining the current market demand and level of
customer satisfaction, the proposed questionnaire can provide a valuable
reference for administrators when devising hospital policies.

V d 3: Marketing
Thit lp cc xut nghin cu Hsinchu is home to
Science-based Industrial Park, Industrial Technology
Research Institute, as well as several universities and
academic institutions. Hsinchu City residents have a high
purchasing power, as evidenced by the annual rise in the
consumer price index and the increasing importance that
advertising plays in influencing consumer behavior.
Vn nghin cu However, given the lack of marketing
research on consumer demand in Hsinchu City, most
companies rely on their own subjective judgment when
assessing the market potential of a certain niche. Unaware
of consumer trends and the make up of consumers in
Hsinchu City, several poor investments were made while
other investment opportunities were neglected.

V d 3 (cont.)
c im k thut nh lng ca vn
nghin cu For instance, according to recent
statistics, effective advertising can create a shift in
90% of all consumer decisions, explaining why
many companies heavily invest in advertising.
Tm quan trng ca vn nghin cu The
inability of a companys subjective judgment and
previous marketing research to fully understand
the characteristics of consumers in Hsinchu City
will lead to a continued loss of revenues and lost
market opportunities.

V d 3 (cont.)
Mc tiu nghin cu Based on the above, we should analyze the
characteristics of consumers in Hsinchu City to understand how effective
advertising influences the purchasing behavior of various customers.
Phng php t c mc tiu nghin cu To do so, a
questionnaire can be designed to elicit customer data and preferences.
Characteristics of consumers in Hsinchu City can then be identified and
analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Next, exactly how effective
advertising impacts the purchasing behavior of consumers can be
understood using ANOVA analysis.
Kt qu d kin As anticipated, analysis results can provide valuable
information regarding the characteristics of consumers in Hsinchu City by
building upon previous marketing research that neglected this growth sector.
ng gp trong lnh vc l thuyt v thc tin In addition to
compensating for the subjective judgment of investors and the limitations of
previous marketing research, results of this study can provide further insight
into the purchasing behavior of Hsinchu City residents, making it a valuable
reference for investors and urban planners.

V d 4: Healthcare Management
Thit lp cc xut nghin cu Since implementation of the
National Health Insurance scheme in Taiwan, the medical sector has
heavily emphasized minimizing operating cots and enhancing medical
quality simultaneously. Given advances in medical-oriented
information technology in clinical practice, hospitals have widely
adopted an outsourcing policy for the development and maintenance of
information systems. As hospitals strive to select information
technology contractors that meet their particular outsourcing needs, the
medical sector urgently needs evaluation criteria for outsourcing to
information technology contractors to alleviate unnecessary risks and
achieve an excellent performance.
Vn nghin cu However, conventional decision-making methods
can not evaluate efficiently and objectively which outsourcing
contractors are the most appropriate. For instance, an insufficient rank
for particular criteria makes it impossible to establish an evaluation
model to select the most appropriate information system contractor.

V d 4 (cont.)
c im k thut nh lng ca vn nghin cu
Restated, the ability of a hospitals information system to
select an appropriate contractor is of priority concern in an
outsourcing policy.
Tm quan trng ca vn nghin cu The inability to
formulate a standard operating process as an alternative to
conventional decision-making methods makes it impossible
to provide a similar criteria when selecting a contractor.
Hospitals incapable of selecting an appropriate outsourcing
contractor will incur increased costs in software updating,
safeguarding, and repairs.

V d 4 (cont.)
Mc tiu nghin cu Based on the above, we should develop a
selection model for medical information system outsourcing to evaluate
the reliability of potential contractors. The proposed model can
integrate various evaluation criteria suitable for the medical sector, thus
ensuring excellent software quality that complies with National Health
Insurance regulation.
Phng php t c mc tiu nghin cu To do so, the
nominal group technique of Delbec and Van de Ven can be adopted to
accumulate the results of interviews and experts in the field and, then,
apply those results for use in evaluation criteria. Two evaluation
methods can then be used to compare the processes for selecting
potential vendors. Next, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) can be used
to establish evaluation criteria for the proposed framework.
Additionally, using the AHP model, a survey can be designed using a
two-pair comparison in order to respond to HIS outsourcing demand
scores for each item. Moreover, fuzzy set theory can be combined with
AHP to calculate the weights and optimum scheme.

V d 4 (cont.)
Kt qu d kin As anticipated, the proposed selection
model for medical information system outsourcing can
facilitate clinicians in decision making and assist with the
HIS outsourcing selection. The evaluation results can
provide hospital administrators with a decision-making and
evaluation criteria that actively encourages the medical
sector outsource to information technology contractors.
ng gp trong lnh vc l thuyt v thc tin In
addition to avoiding unnecessary risks and reducing
overhead costs, the proposed selection model can
incorporate an AHP evaluation model and several
evaluation criteria for large-scale hospitals outsourcing their
technological needs.
