Need
The world is constantly changing. Innovation in any field
is
- no longer an option; it is a must. This is especially the case in the

field of design. Creativity and Innovation are subjects of urgent


concern for any developing
Institutecountries.
for Design Innovation is an initiative to
drive creativity and innovation to advance design oriented
business in an intensely competitive globalised environment.
The design of a Design Innovation Institute , is a
thesis proposal which has taken its shape from the future plans of
the National design Council to start innovation hubs as well as
center for excellence of design as apart of National Design Policy
[Govt Of India 2007]. This will be a platform where graduates with
interest in design can learn, experiment and research enabling
knowledge to be translated into useful products and services that
can be commercialized and marketed. This can act as a business
incubator by providing the resources and services for recently
graduated entrepreneurs in the fields of architecture ,art, design
and engineering. This can be considered as a futuristic form of
National institute of design which is an initiative in similar line but
more focus on design education and research , were the DIC will
have its role in practical training , product branding , design

Objective
To carefully design spaces so as to bring interactions among the
students and teachers and make the building an ideal place for
education.
Design should be balance between modernity and tradition that
captures the spirit of contemporary India to stimulate the
imagination and creativity of the students.
The building must be designed for adaptability, where informal
teaching as well as relaxation out side the classroom should be
possible.
Besides teaching and learning areas, the building should provide
adequate socializing areas, exhibitions area, cafeterias, etc. are
great meeting places and they need to be carefully designed.

The Spaces should be flexible, so that they can be adapted to


different uses at different times. It should be kept busy with
variety of activities by different users which can happen at
different times of the day.
