Impressive!
The massive AN-225 Mriya (NATO name Cossak) never fails to impress,
this head on close up does not include all six engines but illustrates the
immense
size of the aircraft and how similar it is to its sister aircraft the AN124.
It also shows the mounts used for the carrying the Buran shuttle.
The aircraft was departing back to Kiev on a ferry flight from EMA.
On The Edge Of
Darkness

dimensions
Impressive gear!
Nose wheels
The Ukrainian monster taking off from rwy 22 on a relief flight to Islamabad
via Cologne and Baku.
Impressive cockpit
Spot the biggest bird in the world in front of CGNs tower, nice to see.
Most noticeable aspect of the Mriya cockpit are the six engine throttle levers.
One of the An-225 Mriya flight engineers was present and hard at work in the
cockpit .
You can't believe how much wiring/electronics are needed to power this huge
airliner
One of the six ZMKB Progress Lotarev D-18T turbofan with 51.590 pounds of thrust
each...
First flight of the An-225 was December 21, 1988. Here on static display at Paris
Air Show 1989, it was also the first appearance in the west for the "Mriya". On
the roof rack the soviet space ship "Buran".
Aircraft length 275.7 feet, wingspan 290 feet (almost as long as a football field!).
