INTRODUCTION

ENGINEERING

ENGINEER IN
SOCIETY

ENGINEERING
The concept of engineering has existed
since ancient times as humans devised
fundamental inventions such as the
pulley, lever, and wheel.
Each of these inventions is consistent
with the modern definition of engineering,
exploiting basic mechanical principles to
develop useful tools and objects.

ENGINEERS IN SOCIETY
Engineers work to develop economics and safe solutions
to practical problems, by applying mathematics, scientific
knowledge and ingenuity while considering technical
constrains.
Works of engineers is the link between perceived needs
of society and commercial applications.
The scope of the course is introduction of engineers in
society, engineering and organization, relationship of
humanization in engineering management, research and
development, engineer and private sector and
professional talk.

Spot Speed Study

Used to estimated the speed distribution of
the trafc stream (vehicles are
approaching an intersection passing a
point at non-intersection location), under
the conditions prevailing at the time of the
study.
Can be carried out at :
i) Trend locations
ii) Problem locations
iii) Representative locations

RESULT
(1)Jalan Murni
Total number of observation = 508
From the graph :
(-) 85th percentile speed = 57 km/h
(-) Pace = 42 52 km/h
(-) Driving over the speed limit
(30km/h) = 97%

(2) Jalan Koperasi

Total number of observations = 83
From the graph :
- 85th percentile speed = 46.5 km/h
- Pace = 23 33 km/h
- Driving over the speed limit (30km/h)
= 59%

CONCLUSION
House and Road are two important thing in our
daily use. House is a place we stayed and road
is the way we use to go somewhere else. When
road is built infront of our house, safety factor
need to be consider important. At this location,
users use this housing routes as their shorcut to
destination. Government involve to solve this
problem is Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat
(MPBP). From our site investigation, this area
need few improvement to avoid any lost in
future for society safety.
