A. DOs for DEA Logbooks


1) Mentor-Architect must be a Registered and Licensed
Architect (RLA) as defined under R.A. No. 9266 (The
Architecture Act of 2004) and its 2004 IRR; Mentor-Architects
may sign and seal DEA Logbooks as a private practitioner or
as the duly-authorized representative of a firm employing the
prospective LEA Examinee as an apprentice;
2) Mentor-Architect must possess a current IAPOA Certificate ;
3) Mentor-Architects Affidavit must be signed, sealed and
notarized (to make the DEA Logbook a public document);
4) Signature of the Dean or Head of the Architectural School is
only an Optional Requirement for ; and

5) Credits for apprenticeship hours earned while enrolled only

B1. DONTs for DEA Logbooks


1) NO CREDIT HOURS MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE
PRBoA for Architectural Apprenticeship Work
undertaken by an Examinee for a Project on
Philippine soil if the employer Business Process
Outsourcing (BPO) firm and/or knowledge process
outsourcing (KPO) firm DOES NOT possess a PRC
registration as an architectural firm, as defined under
Sec. 37 of R.A. No. 9266;
2) DO NOT COMMIT FRAUD in filling up the Logbook for LDEA
as the PRBoA shall file both criminal and administrative
complaints against both the Examinee and the MentorArchitect once the fraudulent act is discovered;

3) NO CREDIT HOURS MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE
PRBoA for Architectural Apprenticeship Work
undertaken by an Examinee for an Architect-Mentor/
RLA if both the Examinee and the Architect-Mentor/
RLA are employed in an architectural firm that DOES
NOT possess a PRC registration as an architectural
firm, as defined under Sec. 37 of R.A. No. 9266;
4) DO NOT HAVE THE LOGBOOK SIGNED OR SEALED BY ANY
OTHER PROFESSIONAL e.g. particularly by a Civil Engineer
as the said signature and seal SHALL NOT BE HONORED BY
THE PRBoA;

5) NO CREDIT HOURS MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE
PRBoA for Architectural Apprenticeship Work
undertaken by an Examinee for an Architect-Mentor/
RLA if the Architect-Mentor/ RLA collaborates with a
Foreign Architect (FA) on an architectural work on
Philippine soil where the Foreign Architect (FA)
DOES NOT possess a Temporary/ Special Permit
(TSP) issued by the PRC, as defined under Sec. 38 of
R.A. No. 9266; and

6) DO NOT PAY the Architect-Mentor/ RLA or PAY FOR
THE COST OF THE PRC LICENSE RENEWAL OR OF
THE IAPOA CERTIFICATE of the Architect-Mentor/
RLA who shall sign and seal the DEA Logbook; if the
Examinee is discovered to have paid such an amount (and
the Architect-Mentor/ RLA to have accepted money
from the Examinee), a criminal and administrative
complaint shall be filed by the PRBoA against both; and
7) DO NOT submit the DEA Logbooks with alterations in entries,
as these may NOT be processed by the PRBoA.

C1. The future of the DEA Logbooks


1) Mentor-Architects/ RLAs may be required by the PRBoA to
execute a SEPARATE AFFIDAVIT CONCERNING THE STATUS
OF THE EXAMINEES APPRENTICESHIP i.e. is the firm an
architectural firm, a construction firm, a development firm, a
BPO/ KPO firm registered by the PRC as an architectural firm
under Sec. 37 of R.A. No. 9266, was the project (if on
Philippine soil) done by the Mentor-Architects/ RLAs in
collaboration with a Foreign Architect who possesses a
Temporary/ Special Permit (TSP) issued by the PRC, etc.; the
SEPARATE AFFIDAVIT shall also state the nature of the
Mentor-Architects/ RLAs professional relationship with the
firm under which the apprenticeship work was carried out;

2) The evaluation of the DEA Logbook entries on the
apprenticeship hours may be required by the PRBoA
to be done by the IAPOA, with the corresponding
IAPOA certifications;
3) The DEA Logbook may be reformatted by the PRBoA
and the IAPOA to conform to a future IAPOA
Mentorship Program; and
4) A separate AFFIDAVIT to be executed by the
Examinee to attest to the truthfulness of the DEA
Logbook entries may be required by the PRBoA.
