Creation of new Application

NameThe name can contain up to twenty alphanumeric
characters. Do not use spaces.
DescriptionDescription of the application.
PathPath to the new application. If users access the
application through multiple Web and application servers, it is
recommended to use the UNC(Universal Naming convention) to
avoid problems with inconsistent drive letter mapping.

Application Folders
Once the application is created successfully, the following
folders will be created automatically.

Creating Locations
FDM contains two types of locations:
Data loadWithin the controls structure, data load locations can
be children, but not parents.
Controls reviewLocations assigned only to financial controls. No
data is loaded to or from a controls review location. It can be a
child of another controls review location.

Overview of control tables

FDM uses two control tables (Periods & Categories)
Periods : Date value that is stored in the database during the trialbalance load process, that becomes part of a key
Categories : The Categories table contains definitions of data
categories (containers into which data can be
loaded)
Currency codes : It contains a list of currency codes and used only
for notation, they do not impact calculations

The Dimensions screen contains five columns:

Import Formats & Groups

The Import format specifies the format in which source file is to
be received
The different format types are Fixed, delimited, Script, Adapter.
Import Groups
Field NameThe field into which to import
StartThe start location of the import field
LengthThe length of the import field
ExpressionAn expression that overwrites the contents of the
field, unless the field is defined as a Skip field

Validate
Validation is a stage where the system checks whether all the
incoming source account are mapped with target account code
The unmapped account codes are displayed which then can be
mapped using fix
Intersection Validation Functionality in FDM checks your data
before it is exported to make sure your mapping is valid
Once the validation is successful the white fish turns into gold
fish

Export
This Exports the Data residing in FDM into the Target System
Once the Export is successful the white fish turns gold
FDM creates the export file (in the format required by the
target system) and places it in the Outbox directory of the
application.

Check
Checkvalidates the data loaded to the target application
using the validation rules (if applicable).
When Integrating with Essbase/Planning, there is no built in
check report.

When Integrating with HFM, there is a built-in Check report

that looks to HFM to make sure the data that is going to be
loaded is valid
