Introduction
Tracking Device an electronic security device which
allows you to monitor the location of a person or object
Generally a tracking system is used for the observing
of an objects on the move and supplying a timely
ordered sequence of respective location data to a
device
Tracking device provides several services such as :
-Locating a stolen assets
-Keep track of employers to monitor where they are
at all times during the workday
-Control the movements of a person (children,
teenager & elder) when they go missing and etc.

Problem Background
There were always reported cases on missing
people and stolen vehicles in our country
For missing people based on the observation :
-Involve small children, teenager and elders
-In an average about 4 person are missing
everyday
(source : UTUSAN HARIAN newspaper)
For stolen vehicles :
-In 2014, total reported on stolen vehicles is
about 75%
-20% reported cases on stolen car
-The other 55% involve motorcycle and etc

OBJECTIVES
i. To develop a multipurpose tracking
device to reduce the cases on
missing people and stolen
properties (vehicle and etc)
ii. To design a system that can be
easily installed and to provide
platform for further enhancement.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF GPS-GSM BASED TRACKING
SYSTEM WITH GOOGLEMAP BASED MONITORING

Solving problem regarding security and monitoring system for vehicle

Consists of two part one is transmitting side (vehicle unit) and other one is
monitoring side
This system is microcontroller based that consists of a global positioning
system (GPS) and global system for mobile communication (GSM)
This project use only one GPS device and a two way communication
process is achieved using a GSM modem
Main purpose of this system is to find location and the distance
between two station
System will locate target by the use of a Web application (HTML based
application) in Google map
System allows to track the target anytime and anywhere in any weather
conditions

Scope of work
Decide electronic component to use :
-Arduino board model UNO R3
-SIM900 GSM/GPRS Shield Module Main
component
-GPS module
Assembling the parts
Coding the Arduino UNO
Create an android application (Android Studio)
-Give input to trigger the tracking device
-Connect output from tracking device to the google
maps for tracking the object

The output of the tracking device is in form (latitude and longitude)
The output will be sent in form of message from GSM to smartphone
Android application will access the inbox message of the smart
phone to get latitude and longitude
The android application will link the coordinate to the google maps
for tracking the location
