What is Outreach?
It is difficult to find a concise,
agreed-upon definition of the term
outreach in the library profession.
Outreach is defined by the specific
activities that are undertaken by
librarians and generally means
going beyond or surpassing the
boundaries of traditional on-site
services. See:

Traditional Vehicles for Outreach

Tweets? 5 minutes
Rate each tweet on your sample sheets as the
following:
A.This tweet is interesting for me (or my
patrons) to follow up on it by clicking
further or taking some action (like
making it a “favorite”)
B.This tweet is informative but I wouldn’t
follow up on it at all.
C.This tweet is one that some would notice
but others would ignore.
D.This tweet is dull, uninteresting, or
downright geeky.
F. This is something that should never
Discuss—3-5 minutes
When you are finished rating
your tweets, turn to a partner
and compare notes. Where do
you agree and where do you
diverge?
