Offline & Commissioning

Introduction

The BTS commissioning & SW files are stored on the station unit module
(SUMA)
The Station unit module is the core of the BTS ,it is responsible for
The O&M Functions such as Alarms reporting ,BTS Configuration,
internal Power Supply control & clock generation and distribution
Transmission functions by connecting the BTS to the BSC through the
Abis cable.
The Abis can carry up to 32 time slots
0 to 30 are assigned to the TRES for normal traffic(voice and Data
services)
31 : is assigned to the OMU in the SUMA card for signaling (Control
information) between BSC & BTS such as Alarm reporting ,BTS
Master file Download, configuration files etc..

Offline

:Before we start the offline of the BTS


Connect to the BTS and take the BTS Qmax

:Before we start the offline of the BTS


Connect to the BTS and know the OMU time slot from
Configuration -> Transmission Settings... -> OMU Mapping

Take print screen for the "Hardware Modules" window to be
reference in offline.

Start the offline

Switch the BTS off by pushing down its DC C/BS

Disconnect the Abis Cable from the Abis DDF of the BTS
or from the SUMA then Switch on the BTS again

Open BTS SW B11and Type


User Name : commte
Password : bts2site

Go to Configuration Click On BTS Software Download

Press the folder icon to start choosing the BTS Files

Select Master File from the BTS SW folder (BM0SAZV0.MSF)

Select 0CPF File from the BTS SW folder (00O2AZI4.DDL)

Wait for the BTS to download all the files ,During the SW
Download the Suma LED Status will be :
OML ,ABIS & O&M Flashing
last file to be downloaded is the OCPF 002 file after that the
O&M will be solid and OML & ABIS will switched off

Commissioning

From Configuration choose BTS Commissioning

Click on Start Commissioning

Notice that the status of the commissioning changed from


not running to running

Edit Q1 address by clicking its start button and enter the site
Qmux address

Edit Remote Inventory by clicking its start button and press


YES : if the update is already done in the Remote Inventory
panels
NO : if the update is not done in the Remote Inventory panels

Edit Sector Mapping by clicking its start button


Assign sector-ID to each combiner and then press ok refer
to the old configuration

Edit Twin-Settings by clicking its start button


Choose the mode of each Twin-TRE , usually in our network
we leave at the default which is Dual TRE

Hardware check by clicking its start button


the Suma card will start to check the HW available inside
the BTS through the RI-Cable

INIT _ALL_SECT by clicking its start button


the SUMA card will power on all the combiners and TRES
to check their operation

Choose End commissioning ,Stop commissioning window will appear


choose ok after moving all the modules in the selected module window
Wait for the BTS to restart itself SW and then connect the Abis cable.

Finally restart the BTS HW


the SUMA led status should be as following :
Abis & OML are solid
O&M Flashing as the BTS loading its data and RSLs from the BSC

The loading process will take 15 to 20 Minutes ,after that the


O&M Led will be solid and the SUMA will initialize the
BTS sectors (Combiners & TRES)

The BTS Terminal program will start to load the BTS Data
Take snapshots and check with OMC
