Classroom Info
Assignment Notebooks
All students will be supplied with assignment notebooks.
Students will be expected to fill these notebooks out daily,
recording assignments, projects, notes, and objectives of each
lesson (time will be given in class). I require that parents check
and initial these each night. This will be checked as students
enter the classroom in the morning.
Snacks
Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks and can
store them in the classroom. Please limit snacks to healthy
choices. Some ideas are crackers, fruit, granola bars, trail mix,
vegetables, cheese sticks, goldfish, fruit cups, applesauce, etc.
Students can bring in personal water bottles containing ONLY
water.
Bathroom
Students will sign out and take a bathroom pass when the need
arises. Specific bathroom times will be scheduled and it is
expected that students will try to respect scheduled the
bathroom times.

Flexible Seating
Our class uses flexible seating. This
means that when students are working
they will have the freedom to find
comfortable spaces around the room to
work. They might be kneeling,
standing, sitting, working on carpet
squares, leaning on a pillow with a
clipboard, sitting at table with a wobble
stool. There are many possibilities of
what this can look like in a classroom.
Research shows that students are able
to focus and do their best work when
they are comfortable. Classrooms
across the nation are changing the way
student workspaces look, for the

Homework Policy
Math Homework:
We will spend time in class working on our daily math practice together. If your student
does not complete it the time given, it may be assigned to be finished as homework. It
would be wonderful if all students spend approximately 5-10 minutes every night
practicing their multiplication/addition/subtraction/division facts.

Spelling Homework:
When we have a 4-5 day school week, we will have a spelling list and spelling test. Every
student is given a spelling packet with choice activities that they need to complete by the
spelling test date. Time will be given in class to complete this but it is the students
responsibility to ensure they are on track. There may be days they need to work on it at
home but this should be rare.

Reading Homework:
All student are expected to read 30 minutes EVERY NIGHT even during the weekend. This
does not need to be done all at one time and can include any assigned reading, reading of
magazines, books, etc.

Other Homework:
Other projects may be assigned throughout the year to demonstrate mastery of
standards. Information will be posted in advance for all projects.
