Constitution and By-Laws

ARTICLE 1 NAME AND


PRINCIPLES
Section

1 There shall be one


and only student government
that shall have jurisdiction
over the whole studentry and
it shall be officially known as
the Brokenshire College
Supreme Student Council,
(BC SSC)

Section

2 The BC SSC shall


oversee and approve college
recognized clubs and
organizations, The Lamp
Publication, The Brokenshirians,
in their activities, plans, projects
and dealings that involve the
students interests.

Section

3 The BC SSC shall


function as an autonomous entity
and shall adhere to the principles
of Parliamentary System of
Government. In the performance
of its duties, the students
interests and general welfare shall
have the outmost consideration.

ARTICLE 2 OBJECTIVES
Section 1. The BC SSC shall have the following
objectives:
Promote academic freedom;
Promote students rights and privileges;
Safeguard students from commercialized
education
Consolidate the studentry and mold them into a
single, compact, and active and nationalistic body,
Develop social, economic, cultural and spiritual
awareness; and
Be reflective of the studentrys sentiments and as
such, be the venue for the realization of the
students aspirations.

ARTICLE 3 MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 All bonafide college students of
Brokenshire College are automatic members of the
student council.
Section 2 A membership fee amount of thirty-five
pesos (P35) shall be collected upon enrollment. The
amount/date is subject to change upon the approval
of the executive council.
Section 3 The BC SSC shall collect the amount of
P100.00 from every member for the STUDENT
DEVELOPMENT FUND in addition to the
membership fee. This shall be used only for projects
that would benefit the studentry.
Section 4 The membership shall be terminated upon
cessation of being a bonafide student of Brokenshire
College.

ARTICLE IV
Section

1 Every student has the right to:

A. Competent instruction, research,


counseling, health and facilities and other
college services.
B. Organize or form, establish, join and
participate in organizations and societies
recognized by the school to foster their
intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and
physical growth and development.

C. Establish clubs, organizations and


other associations inside and outside
the campus based on their general or
political organizations provided such
organizations shall be in line with
the Brokenshire College Credo and
shall be concerned with the good of
the students, of the Brokenshire
College community and of the
Philippine society at large.

D. Free expression. They have the right to:

Publish regular student-controlled


publications;
Express their stand and disseminate
inforation through written, oral and visual
form
Fully express individually and collectively
their views on issues on institutional
policy and on matters of general interest
to the student council; and
Peaceably assemble and petition of
redress and grievances.

Due process in disciplinary proceedings and


freedom from compulsory self-incrimination.
No student shall be held to answer for any offense
without due process; and
Every student has the right to procedural
fairness in disciplinary proceedings
Participate in the formulation of policies that
directly affect their welfare. The students have
the right to participate in the government of
Brokenshire College by having representatives in
the highest policy-making bodies through voting
powers coming from their ranks.

SECTION 2.

No

student shall be subjected


to exploitation, involuntary
servitude, cruel and unusual
punishment, and
embarrassment and/or
harassment.

ARTICLE V. ORGANIZATIONAL
STRUCTURE
Section 1. All recognized clubs and organizations,
the official student publication, and the College
yearbook are under the supervision of the BC SSC.
Section 2. All recognized clubs and organizations,
the official student publication, and the College
yearbook, shall always abide with the rules and
regulations, executive orders and memorandums
from the BC SSC.
Section 3. The Office of the Student Affairs shall not
recognize club and organization officers and
members, The Lamp Editorial Board and Technical
Staff, and the Brokenshirian Editorial Board and
Staff, without the endorsement from the BC SSC.

ARTICLE VI. THE GENERAL


ASSEMBLY
Section

1 The General Assembly


shall composed of all bonafide
students of the college.

2 The General Assembly


shall convene at least twice every
school year and/or whenever
necessary.
