In this work a revision of the acceptation process of the

Environmental Impact Assessment (eia) at international and
national

level,

as

an

indispensable

tool

of

the

environmental public policy directed to the implementation

of the principles of sustainability is present and stands out

primary data (base) of various aspects, that it is obtained
most of all of nets of environmental monitoring, and that
it results in simpler and synthetic way in environmental
indicators, in order to be able to communicate it to the
population in general and to the politicians.

METHODOLOGY.

In order to carry the study out it was considered the

combination of the documentary investigation and the
field work. In specific, in the first instance he turned to
various sources of information'deep bibliographic revision,
like books, scientific goods, technical reports and official
statistics with the aim of constructing a state of the art in
the matter of the eia and of environmental indicators.

EVALUATION of the ENVIRONMENTAL

IMPACT.

The term impact (presentee in this first-time-ever

formulation in 1824), takes shape of impactus that in Latin
he signifies literally to collide. But, in 1960 he was
granted the figurative touch of strong and harmful action.
That way, in conjunction with the environmental word, he
was given a significance of effect produced in the
environment and the natural processes by the human
activity in a space and one fixed terms.

In Mexico, the long process of the implementation of the

instrument of the eia can relate with the evolution of the
predominant focuses in the environmental stewardship
that ruled the legal and institutional change under the
strong international influence in the space of the
environmental protection (Arriaga, 2012).

ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS FOR THE EIA.

The environmental, social, economic great quantity of

data of the spaces, etcetera that are used in the eia for
the decision makers, is turned into synthetic way in
indicators and indexes.
