Electricity through Government

Electricity is available through transformers set up by the government
Out of around 500 households only 300 households have access to
electricity at their home.
Present scenario of this village is that in a day around 14 hours
electricity is available to the people.
According to the people, in the summer power cuts usually occur
early in the morning from 4-10 am and in the afternoon from 1-5
pm.

Reservoir
There is a reservoir
around 1 km away
from the village.
Its main purpose is for
irrigation of the fields
and for animal.
It is not used for any
power generation.

Firewood & LPG

Since the village is surrounded by
hills therefore it is convenient for
the villagers to acquire wood.
Usually women and girls go to collect
woods
Firewood is used mainly for cooking,
heating.
Around 70-75% households depend
on firewood to meet their daily
requirements.
Rest of the households, mainly those
of high social values have access to

Solar Energy
Solar panels are installed
nearby temples and
hospitals and the electricity
generated from them is used
for street lights.
Around 11 solar panels are
installed.

Animal, Human Power and Kerosene

Only the backward section
of the people who have
no access to electricity
use kerosene to light their
homes.
Animal Power is not
significantly used for
farming purposes
nowadays
Human power is used for
fodder cutting

Transportation

transportation used by the
people :Tractor - mainly for farming
and fodder collection
purposes

fodder and animals etc.

Problems faced by the villagers

Backward class people have no access to electricity even for
fulfilling their basic needs.
Power Cuts are very often, specially in summer.
Many people are still dependent on firewood and thepla for
cooking and heating purposes, which adversely affects
their health. Very few of them has access to LPG cylinders.
Many people have eyesight problem because of the dust of
kerosene lamp

Problems continued.
There is no proper supply for
water for irrigation
purposes. People mainly
rely on rains for irrigation.
There is a lack of information
among the people about
the new energy resources.
Women do not have any
employment except
MNREGA

Future Plans for energy

There are no biogas plants in the village and the people there also do
not have any information about it. There exists enough cow dung
and animal waste for the setup of biogas plants.
Solar energy can be utilised more properly by installing more solar
panels in locality and street lightning.
Proper maintenance of reservoir needs to be done. It can also be used
for irrigation and power generation purposes.
Animal power can be used for backward class people as they have no
access to tractor for farming and transportation purposes.

Future plans continued

Increase use of CFLs

Benefits of Biogas plant

Employment
Use of animal dung
Electricity to backward class people
