projects.
We may even have extended the use
of agile management practices into
other areas of business.
However, our ability to realize the
expected benefits within the expected
time horizons is largely affected by the
quality of the sponsor.
Effective sponsorship, speeds up the
schedule and mitigates risk of delays
and hence delay in the flow of benefits
from the project/program.
Poor sponsorship negates the impact of
any agile processes and can even lead

Sponsorship Misdemeanors
1. Inexperienced in sponsorship and assumes they can figure it out
2. Lack of ownership and commitment
3. Too busy, too many other priorities
4. Overly critical challenges everything
5. Lack of knowledge technology, environment, business area
6. Lacking clout to champion at higher levels and maintain executive focus
7. Incompetent in managing crises
8. Blamer, fault-finder, too much focus on losses
9. No established relationship with the project/program manager
10. Cant give/receive good feedback
11. Too little engagement
12. Too much engagement
