Lies approximately 85 km northeast of
Prague
In the region of the Bohemian paradise
Under the Prachov Rocks
Has been declared a Municipal Reserve
because of its well-preserved historical
centre
connected with the popular fairy-tale
character of Rumcajs

Jin - historical dates


probably founded at the end of the 12th
century in the place of today's village of Star
Msto (Old Place)
It was moved 2 km northward to its present
location shortly afterward
The first written reference of Jin comes from
a document written by the wife of King
Wenceslaus II (1293)
As his wifes name was Jitka, it is believed that
the town was named after her (Jitino msto
-> Jin)

Jin historical dates


The biggest expansion of the town started
in 1621 when the town became a property
of Albrecht von Wallenstein
However, after Wallenstein s early death
(1634) the town lost much of its
importance
In 1710 the town became a property of the
House of Trauttmansdorf
1784 Jin became the seat of a new
region

VALDTEJN CASTLE

One of the oldest castles in the Czech Paradise the


history goes back to the mid-13th century
Built on three sandstone rocks - due to the rocks it
was named Waldenstein, which means forest rock
later the
name was shortened to Waldstein

VESEC
A small village which was designated a
Cultural heritage site in 1995
Established before 1287 the exact date is
uncertain
Nowadays the village has 25 half-timber
cottages and 26 residents
