Naguib Mahfouz was born on December 1911 in an old


district of Cairo (Gamaliia).

Naguib Mahfouz completed his


primary and secondary
education and he was greatly
influenced by Hafez Ibrahim

After completing his secondary education Naguib Mahfouz was

enrolled at the Egyptian University


got his degree in Philosophy by 1934
after graduation he decided to take up professional writing as
occupation.

1995. Given an honorary doctorate from the AUC.

Naguib Mahfouz medal for Literature.
2002. Elected as a member of the American Academy
of Arts and Science.

Naguib Mahfouz was stabbed at the neck by a religious extremist

in 1994
he recovered the attack but some nerves were severely damaged
effect on his writings
In August 2006, Naguib Mahfouz died at the age of 94

In conclusion, Mahfouz s life and education has a big

influence upon his future as prolific Egyptian writer.


He wrote more than 34 novels and about 350 short stories.
He was an iconic feature of devotion and success.
He left our world leaving a big legacy of awards and

achievements.
