Sumer way

of life
in Mesopotamia!

Introduction
Museums should add Mesopotamia sections
because Mesopotamia is an important way of life by
how the sumerians lived their lives. Sumerians
should be known because they have learned many
things in life that they have never tried before. WE
believe that sumerians are just like us.
Geography
Mesopotamia is surrounded by two rivers named the
Tigris river and the Euphrates river. Mesopotamia was
an ancient region that is now Iraq. Mesopotamian
government. mesopotamia is made up of diffrent
regions, each with its own geography. The geography
of each area and the natural resources found there
affected the ways the people lived.
Art
Metalworkers made objects like weapons and cups. Musicians
sang and played instruments during temple ceremonies.
Architects designed temples and ziggurats. Makers often
decorated their instruments with precious stones and with
carvings made of horn.
Social Class
Sumerian social class is made up of three classes. The first class
are the priests. Priest are basically the ones that are in charge of
the slaves and the people that have more money then the rest.
The second class are the merchants and artisans. The third class
are the slaves. The slaves work for the priest and they do not
get paid at all.
Government
The king, of each city-state was responsible for constructing
buildings and temples, maintaining the city borders and
irrigation systems, and enforcing the laws. In case of war, he
would lead the armies. Although the king had power, he was not
permitted to act with ultimate power, or as a dictator. As the
government became more complex, the king employed scribes,
official public secretaries, to collect taxes and keep records for
the government.
Technology

The Mesopotamians made many technological


discoveries. They were the first to use the potter's
wheel to make better pottery, they used irrigation to
get water to their crops, they used bronze metal (and
later iron metal) to make strong tools and weapons,
and used looms to weave cloth from wool. - tools an

Religion
Mesopotamia is a greek word meaning between the rivers which
is true because Mesopotamia is between two rivers.
Mesopotamia is between two rivers named the Tigris and
Euphrates river. The ancient sumerians worshipped many gods.
Sumerian gods are Anu, Enlil, Enki, Utu, and Inanna.
Conclusion

Mesopotamia religion did not believe in afterlife.


They believed that all good and bad people go
underground as ghosts and eat dirt,their religion also
believe that they were servants of god. If you were to
ask a person today why they are here they would say
because god loves me.
