Manufacturing Methods

Oracle Work in Process supports a combination of


manufacturing methods and the following types of jobs
and schedules:

Discrete Manufacturing Jobs

Assemblies are built in specific (discrete) quantities.


These jobs or work orders use specific materials and
resources.

Project Manufacturing Jobs

Projects are used to track costs by specifying revenue


and billing methods. Each project can have a set of top
level tasks, and a hierarchy of subtasks.

Repetitive Manufacturing Schedules

Assemblies are built for repetitive production using


schedules, rather than discrete jobs or work orders.

Flow Manufacturing Schedules

Flow schedules represent the volume and mix of


products produced on a line for a consistent flow
of products through the production line.

Shop Floor Manufacturing Lot Based Jobs

A lot based job follows a network routing, which defines


different paths for a routing. Network routings provide
flexibility in choosing the next operation, determining the
series of operations the job moves through.

Configure To Order (CTO) Manufacturing

A product or service is assembled per customer


configurations, on receipt of the sales order.

Assemble To Order and Final Assembly Orders

Assemblies consist of a model, with optional items


and selection rules. Final assembly orders associate
a single job to a sales order.

You can control and monitor the materials used for


production, and view how they move from inventory to jobs
and schedules, and back to inventory.

material by:
Combining bills of material with routings to create
specific material requirements.
Specifying when and where materials are to be issued
or backflushed.
