BACKGROUND
National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 at New Delhi by
the Ministry of
Textiles, Government of India as a registered society under the Societies
Registration Act, 1860.
The Institute has recently been conferred the statutory status through the Act of
Parliament called the NIFT Act 2006 for the promotion and development of
education and research in fashion technology and for matters connected their with
and incidental thereto.
Since its inception in 1986, the institute has played a pioneering role in envisioning
and evolving Fashion business education in the country. With growing demand for
skilled manpower from the Fashion business industry across the country, the
Institute expanded its operations in 1995-96 by establishing six additional Centers
at Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai.
During 2007 to 2010,seven more centers were established in Rae Bareli, Shillong,
Bhopal,Patna,Kannur,Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the respective
State Governments.

OBJECTIVE
To generate a vocabulary and design temperament of the project for architectural
expression that will reflect the urban character of that place
To provide world class institute and will encourage it to generate more internal
resources, promote innovation and result in an overall improvement in the standard of
education and research.
To achieve a space for budding designers and local rich culture activities of Haryana.
Build links between the environment and built spaces.
To put Haryana as a fashion hub at national level
The institution would act as a functional center of creativeness, education and
promotion era for fashion goods
SCOPE
The project will augment development in Haryana providing fashion education which
is the most demanding factor of present-day at national and international level.
The institution will provide educational facilities to the students thus understanding
the works being performed in the fashion and textile industry.
Works done will be promoted through exhibition halls and museum, helping the
institute to gain a new identity than other fashion institute .
The goods displayed can be exported thus leading in the economic development of
the institute.
This project will be the combination of art, architecture and design and thus creating
landmark for the city
Institute will be developed while considering nearby institutes so that it will merge
with other institute and male whole local area as a knowledge hub as the institute lies
in the institutional zone of Panchkula.
