Similarities

One main
similarity is the
masthead. This
is the main title
and both are
focused at the
centre top of the
page wrote in
bold font.
The main
images are
both mid-
shot angles
of a teenage
girl to appeal
to the
audience of
teenagers.
A puff is used to
advertise an
added feature of
both magazines.
Differences
One main
difference is
in the
Teenage
Magazine
most
coverlines
are down the
right side of
the magazine
whereas in
The six My
coverlines
are centred

and on the is

of the barcode.
The 6 barcode
is in the bottom
left hand side of
the page where
on Teenage
magazine the
barcode is on
the bottom right
hand side.
The codes and conventions
Followed?
One important rule of creating a successful magazine is following
the codes and conventions. I have ensured I have followed these
while also attempting to have my own style to attract my
audience and differ from other magazines on the market.
One convention which I followed was using a pug. This is an
advertisement written inside of a shape to add emphasis which
will interest the reader to buy it for the extra surprise. On my front
cover I added a Pug in the shape of a flower which promoted the
free posters Inside.
Another convention followed was the use of a
main coverline. This is positioned next to the main image on
the front cover and is used as the introductory focus of the front
cover.
The codes and conventions
Developed?
To make my magazine stand out, I
wanted to develop traditional codes
and conventions of the front cover.
This means to go against what is
predicted and therefore challenge
stereotypes of traditional magazines.
Comparison
The main
comparison is that
my main image is
no longer a
building and has
been changed to a
medium shot of
Naomi. I made this
alteration as seeing
a student on the
cover is more
relatable for the
type of magazine.
Similarities
Both titles are big,
bold and purple
however I missed
out the icon of the
college lanyard.

The puff is still

included but on the
right side of the
magazine.

The main coverline

Do you want the
best grades is still
included.
Similarities and differences
They both have boxed
off headings for the
pages.

One difference is on
the official contents
page there is not a
social media section, I
added this to connect
to my teenage
audience who actively
use social media.

One missing feature

on my contents page
is an editorial which
could have been
added to personalise
the edition.
