2.Principles, scope and potentials of chemical engineering profession
3.Overview on related chemical industries and their economic contribution to the country
ENGINEER
Dolph Lundgren
Known for his hulking physique as
Russian boxer Ivan Drago inRocky
IVand Gunner Jensen inThe
Expendables, Dolph Lundgren doesnt
seem like hed be at home in a lab
coat. Wrong. Hes got a genius-level
IQ of 160 and a masters in chemical
engineering.

University:University of Sydney
Degree awarded:Masters Degree
Subject:Chemical Engineering
Mr. Bean himself finished his degree
in electrical and electronics
engineering at Newcastle University
before getting his Masters in
engineering at Oxford.
University:Oxford University
Degree awarded:Masters Degree
Subject:Electrical Engineering
Fritz Haber(18681934):
ReceivedNobel Prize in Chemistry1918 for
the fixation of nitrogen from the air, the
Haber process; also developed chemical
warfare agents for the German government
during World War I.
Received theRumford Medalin 1932 for,
"...the outstanding importance of his work in
physical chemistry, especially in the
application of thermodynamics to chemical
reactions".
Almost engineers
Cindy Crawford:Before she was a supermodel, Crawford
studied study chemical engineering at Northwestern
University, which she attended on scholarship. She dropped
out to pursue modeling full time.

Ashton Kutcher:As a University of Iowa student, Kutcher

was majoring in biochemical engineering when he was
discovered and his acting career began. Hell be playing
Steve Jobs in the 2013 movieiJOBs.
What is an engineer

What Everyone Ought To Know
About Engineering!
Engineering combines the fields of science and maths to solve real world
problems that improve the world around us.

What really distinguishes an engineer is his ability to implement ideas in a cost

effective and practical approach.

This ability to take a thought and translate it into reality is what separates an
engineer from other fields of science and mathematics.

Consider the following list of things you use and take for granted everyday:
Buildings

Roads and bridges

Vehicles, including cars, planes and boats

Computers and electronic devices

Sewerage systems

Not a single one of them would exist without engineers! You wouldnt have been
able to drive to work, check your facebook status or even use the toilet this morning!

What Do Chemical Engineers
Do?
Some chemical engineers make designs and invent new
processes.
Some construct instruments and facilities.
Some plan and operate facilities.
Chemical engineers have helped develop atomic science,
polymers, paper, dyes, drugs, plastics, fertilizers, foods,
petrochemicals... pretty much everything.
They devise ways to make products from raw materials and
ways to convert one material into another useful form.
Chemical engineers can make processes more cost
effective or more environmentally friendly or more
efficient.
As you can see, a chemical engineer can find a niche in any
scientific or engineering field.

Thinking about a career in
chemical engineering?
As a chemical engineer, you will need:
to work as part of a team, and have good

social skills
excellent problem-solving and analytical

skills (plus a dose of imagination!) to

overcome stiff challenges
to be highly IT literate, as much of your

work will rely on using computers
