Advantages for selection of SFF
Solids Flow Feeder is very successful, user friendly and effective equipment for
feeding pulverised material into process of Cement Plant

Reasons are like the followings.

Maintenance of SFF is less compared to W/F,LIW& Multicor in absence of moving


part.

As material is flowing through a closed chamber, dust nuisance is not taking place.

Space requirement vertically and horizontally is less compared to other System.

Accuracy drift can be easily set within +/-1% with the help of On Line check

measurement.

Accuracy can be set to desired level easily with the help of On Line Check
Measurement.
Disadvantages:
Accuracy drift due to material accumulation on measuring chute in vertical
SFF(Horizontal SFF has no effect on material accumulation).This can take place
due to less/more fluidization.

Accuracy drift is taken due to turbulence of material flow in side SFF at highly
fluidized condition of material.

Drift in accuracy is also taking place due to wide suction variation. Suction variation
in horizontal SFF is suggested +/- 5 mm wg. Same variation in vertical SFF is
suggested +/- 10 mm of wg.

Corrective actions for improving performance of SFF

Selection of intermediate bin.


Height of bin should not be more than 5m.

Height should not be less than 3m.

Material content inside bin should be at least of feeder nominal capacity.

Load cells of bin should be above CG level of bin.

All corner inside bin should be round and smooth.

Inspection windows should present on top to inspect material behavior at fluidized


condition.

Inspection window should also present at the bottom side of bin(side discharged

type) to clear material during shutdown.

Dedusting pipe on top of bin should be connected through Chinese hood.

Isolation joints of bins should soft and flexible to avoid weighing error.

Aeration boxes should cover at least 70% of bin bottom area.


Selection of check bin

Inner wall of conical portion of bottom discharged bin should be polished to promote
easy flow of material.

Insulation of outer wall is required if bin is in open atmosphere.

Direct feeding by dense phase or pump should be avoided to avoid flushing of


material through SFF.

Pressurisation at the outlet of SFF should not take place.

Bin pressurisation should not take place to avoid flushing of material.

WHEN A GAS IS PASSED UPWARDS THROUGH A STATIONERY BED OF


POWDER, THE VISCOUS DRAG INCREASES UNTIL IT IS ABLE TO
SUPPORT THE PARTICLE WEIGHT. AN INFINITESIMAL INCREASE IN AIR
VELOCITY LIFTS THE PARTICLES AND THE POWDER IS CALLED
FLUDISED. THE AIR / GAS VELOCITY AT THE ONSET OF FLUIDISATION IS
DEFINED AS THE MINIMUM FLUDISATION VELOCITY.
