their intercepted arcs
in the given figure.

Answer the Questions:

1. How many angles did you identify in the

figure?

2. How about the arcs that these angles

intercept?

3. When do you say that an angle intercepts

an arc?

Activity 2: Inscribe
Me!

Perform the following

activity by group.
1. Use a compass to
draw a circle on your
paper. Carefully
mark and label the
center of the circle
as point A.

edge, draw an
inscribed angle by
constructing two
chords with common
endpoint D. Name

central angle with
the same intercepted
arc as your inscribed
angle, . Name the
angle

Inscribed Angle is an
angle formed by two
chords in a circle
which have a
common endpoint
(called vertex).
The intercepted arc
is the arc that lies in
the interior of an
inscribed angle and
has endpoints on the
angle

THEOREMS on
Inscribed Angles

1. If an angle is
inscribed in a
circle, then the
measure of the
angle is one-half
the measure of its
intercepted arc.

THEOREMS on
Inscribed Angles

2. If two inscribed
angles of a circle
intercept the same
arc, then the angles
are congruent.

Schools Division Office- LRMDS

Proof:
The measure of each
inscribed angle is exactly
half the measure of its
intercepted arc.
Since they have the same
intercepted arc, they have
the same measure.

THEOREMS on
Inscribed Angles

3. If an inscribed
angle of a circle
intercepts a
semicircle, then the
angle is a right
angle.

Schools Division Office- LRMDS

Proof:
The intercepted arc for an
angle inscribed in a semi-
circle is 180 degrees.
Therefore the measure of
the angle must be half of
180, or 90 degrees. In
other words, the angle is a
right angle.
