Objective
DoT has allocated 5 MHz spectrum to Idea in 2100 band to launch UMTS services.
Objective of CW Drive Test and Model Tuning activity is to ensure the accurate
tuning of the propagation model of the acquired spectrum by Idea for Radio
Network Design of FDD-UMTS Network in this circle.
Results of CW Drive test and Model Tuning conducted for BIkaner (RAJASTHAN)
including test setup, procedure, equipment specifications are captured in this
document.

Methodology
1. CW Transmitter is used to Transmit the Carrier wave from selected sites.
2. CW Transmitter setup on site is shown with diagrams.
3. Link-budget of the CW transmitter setup is provided in further slides.
4. CW receiver is used scan the Transmitted CW signal in the entire allocated
bandwidth with 5 MHz.
5. Drive test is performed around the selected and agreed drive route between
IDEA and Vendor.
6. CW measurements are collected and provide as input to the Model tuning
activity.
7. Model tuning is done for each drive test location.
8. Average of the tuned models per morphology clutter is considered for
acceptance process with IDEA.
9. CW Receiver has an excellent dynamic range and can scan up-to -125dBm
receive signals from transmitter.
10. Penetration loss test.

Acceptance Criteria for per band of testing
As per Idea Guidelines
CW Test :-

1. CW test should be carried out for the Sites identified per city
2. Survey forms should be filled properly
3. Number of samples per site after averaging should be at least 5000 to 8000.
4. The target clutter category, for which the site has been selected, should have
been covered properly in the test and the drive test file should contain at least 8000
samples for that category.
5. Submission of indoor penetration loss measurements for at-least 2 samples for
each clutter category.

Model Tuning :-

1. Each model should be based on CW test of mutually agreed sites

2. Global mean error on calibration sites: < +/-1 dB
3. Global standard deviation on calibration sites: < 7.5 dB
4. Mean error on each calibration/verification site: < +/- 0.5 dB
5. Standard deviation on each calibration/verification site: < 8 dB
6. Prediction Match rate at site level should be >=85% between the CW drive bins
and Predicted model.
