So appetite for beauty, gorgeousness of building

Need for also increased
beauty

Many materials were introduced

GLAZING One of these is the GLAZING WORK
It is a system of bonding glass to buildings
structural framing members utilizing a high
strength, high performance silicone sealant
specifically designed & tested for structural
glazing.
In the earliest 1950
Through the use of float glass
This allowed economical mass production of
high quality flat glasses & all architectural
glasses
1. Architectural design flexibility
2. Increase the thermal efficiency
3. Reduces water & air-filtration
4. Reduces potential for thermal breakage
5. Excellent sound insulation
6. Provides easy-to-clean surface
1. Ventilation may not be proper
2. Cost of construction is exceptionally high
3. In case of fire, glass walls collapse before
people can be completely evacuated from the
building
4. Very skilled labors are needed
Glazing (single panes or insulating glazing) will
generally be factory-bonded on a metal frame. The
glass & frame unit is then transported to the site &
fixed to the load-bearing structure.
Glass :- 100 % recyclable material
Aluminum :- Less weight, but high strength
Silicon Sealant :- Sand gel used for bonding
glass
EPDM :- Ethylene Propylene Di-amine
Monomers
To prevent water & air entering. Temperature
may be allowed to 110F.
Mullions (horizontal member-used for transfer DL)
Transoms (vertical member)
Silicone Sealants (to prevent passage of air,
moisture)

Setting block (to provide support)

Location block (to prevent movement of glass)

6. Systems with panoramic review
7. Others
A. Frameless glazing system
B. Structural bracing of non-glass materials
C. Shock-resistant glazing system

Glazing work at Dilshad Garden,

Delhi
For each structural glazing work evaluation
assistance programme (EAP) is a must before
execution of the project. The EAP is
completed through some steps given below:
Shop Drawing Review (dimensions of
drawings, design load & unit of load, glass
type & manufacturer, metal details for
framing etc.)
Laboratory testing (for all substrates i.e.
structural silicone sealant, glass, frame etc.)
At present structural glazing has been used
by various developed countries like USA, UK,
Russia, France, UAE etc. broadly.
The new procedures of structural glazing are
being invented & under research, so it is
being stronger day by day.
Glazing industry has grown rich enormously.
People are being attracted to the use of
structural glazing due to its fantastic scenic
beauty.
