INTRODUCTION

Water is one of the essential requirements for

life. All living things need water for their
survival. Although water covers more than
70% of the Earths surface, less than 1% of that
resource is available as fresh water and this
is not evenly distributed throughout the world.
As a result, more than one billion people
worldwide lack access to water.
INTRODUCTION

Groundwater is water flowing within aquifers

below the water table. Within aquifers, the
water flows through the pore spaces in
unconsolidated sediments and the fractures of
rocks. One source of groundwater is an aquifer.
There are large and small aquifers, and they are
the underground water reserves that absorb
water and hold it, enabling us to pump it for
use.
INTRODUCTION
Mataas na Kahoy is one of the municipalities in
the Province of Batangas. The name Mataas na
kahoy literally means "tall tree". The town is
known for its cool climate due to its high
elevation 379 meters (1,243 ft). About 25,400
people in 3,918 households living in the said
community are using water for their daily needs.
The total land area of the community is about
2,376 hectares with 16 barangays including Brgy.
Upa.
INTRODUCTION
Brgy. Upa, is a place that experiences scarcity
of water. Most people in the barangay do not
have readily available water and to solve this
problem, the people in the barangay draw
water from the groundwater resources. The
demand for water in the barangay increases
during the summer season, where the place
experiences shortage in water.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

According to the waterworks collector, Mrs.

Nimfa Tibayan,, Brgy. Upa, has three machines
powered through electricity that pumps the
ground to generate water for the needs of the
residents. Water pumped are stored in tanks,
and distributed through pipes throughout the
area. Also, water is tested to ensure the safety
of the water for the consumers to drink.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The barangay proposed a schedule of

distribution into two divisions, the ilaya and
ibaba. The water will flow from 6am until 3pm
in ibaba and from 3pm to 6am in ilaya. In that
set up, the residents will be able to allot time
for the storing of water.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
This study aims to analyze the water
distribution system in Brgy. Upa, Mataas na
Kahoy, Batangas. It tackles the effect of the
water shortage to the residents and how it will
affect their daily lives. And lastly, this study will
discuss how to improve the water supply in
Brgy. Upa.
ANALYSIS OF DATA

The consumers were divided into two types:

the residential and commercial. The residential
includes people who use water on their
households and commercial for people who
use water for their businesses. The residential
includes 267 people and 213 people for
commercial.
ANALYSIS OF DATA

The charge for every cubic meter of

consumption differs into these two types. For
residential, the minimum volume is 8m3 that
cost 150.00php and an additional 20.00php for
every cubic meter increase while for
commercial, the minimum volume is also 8m3
that cost 200.00php and an additional
30.00php for every cubic meter increase.

CONCLUSION

Water Distribution schedule maybe a viable

solution for water depletion mitigation as it was
adopted by the community, but considering that
there will always be a time that the water
pumping level is not enough due to over
pumping of water and by increase in
temperature, Building a Water Storage Unit in
addition to the existing system to help widen
the amount of water they can get.
