DEWORMERS
Dogs are often times infected with
worms. Most of them usually
infect puppies at a young age.

Canine Intestinal Worms

Hookworms
Roundworms
Tapeworms
Whipworms
 Deworming (sometimes known
as worming or drenching) is the giving of
an anthelmintic drug to a dog/animal

Deworming medication for puppies should be done

at 4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks , monthly until it is 6
months old and every three months thereafter.

Antibiotics are prescriptions derived from bacterial sources

specifically to fight other, more harmful bacteria.

How do antibiotics work?

Different types of antibiotics work in one of two ways

A bactericidal antibiotic kills the bacteria. A bactericidal
usually either interferes with the formation of the bacterium's
cell wall or its cell contents.

A bacteriostatic stops bacteria from multiplying.

Anti-emetics are the drugs used to control the vomition
in dogs which is the forceful expulsion of stomach
contents through the mouth.
There are 2 causes of vomiting in dogs-
Primary causes are those that are due to diseases of
the stomach and upper intestinal tract.
Secondary causes are caused by diseases of other
organs that cause an accumulation of toxic substances
in the blood. These toxic substances stimulate the
vomiting center in the brain causing the animal to vomit
 Antiemetics may act peripherally
to reduce afferent input from
receptors or to inhibit efferent
components of the vomiting reflex response.
They may also act centrally to block stimulation of

the CTZ and emetic center
