CONCRETE
PROPERTIES
HIGH COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH.

HIGH TENSILE STRENGTH.

RAPID STRENGTH GAIN.

LOW SHRINKAGE.

SETS ON ROOM TEMPERATURE.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE.

HIGHER RESISTANCE TO HEAT.

Compressive strength

The compressive strength of geopolymer is 1.5 times more than

that of ordinary portland cement concrete.

Workability of geopolymer concrete is better in comparison to

ordinary concrete.

The compressive strength of geopolymer concrete increases as

increment in % of fly ash.
ADVANTAGES
Reduces CO2 emission.
Utilization of byproducts.(Fly ash)
Durable.
Economically sustainable.
Fire proof.
Low permeability.
Chemical resistance.
High tensile and compression strength.
APPLICATIONS
Precast concrete products like railway sleepers, Parking
tiles, geopolymer concrete blocks, etc

In marine structures due to chemical attacks.

Where the fire resistance material is required.

In road construction.
Why GEOPOLYMER?
Geopolymer concrete has the potential to substantially curb CO2
emissions
produce a more durable infrastructure capable of design life measured
in hundreds of years
conserve hundreds of thousands of acres currently used for disposal
of coal combustion products
protect aquifers and surface bodies of fresh water via the elimination
of fly ash disposal sites.
OPC vs GEO POLYMER
Geopolymer concrete (GPC) using fly ash
Greater corrosion resistance,
Substantially higher fire resistance (up to 2400 F),
High compressive and tensile strengths
Rapid strength gain, and lower shrinkage.
Greenhouse gas reduction potential as much as
90 percent when compared with OPC.
GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE
Hardened cementations paste made from fly ash. and
alkaline solution.

Combines waste products into useful product.

Setting mechanism depends on polymerization.

Curing temp is between 60-90 degree.

TYPES OF FIBRES
1. Steel fibers
2. Glass fibers
3. Carbon fibers
PROPERTIES OF FIBRE
REINFORCED GPC
MODERATE reduction in compressive strength.
Increases split tension strength.
Increases flexure capacity.
Increases cracking moment capacity.
Increases ultimate capacity of the beams.
Improves the resistance to fracture disintegration and fatigue.
Able to withstand light and heavy load.
What is FFGC?
The fibers were mixed by weight fractions of 0.2% to
1.2% of fly ash with mix composition of FGC mixture ,
selected based on the optimized compressive strength
and flexural strength . the fiber reinforced mixture are
named here as FFGC (fiber reinforced fly ash based
geopolymer concrete).
