Survey answers
What did the survey show in terms of accessibility?
Most of the students do not have internet access at home, only 11 out of 30 of the students find it easy to access the internet because they have internet access at home which is only
37% of them having internet access at home. The remaining 19 out of 30 students which is a total of 63% do not have internet access at home.
Did all students surveyed have access to the Internet outside of campus?
NO, only 16 out of 30 of the students, which is 53% of the students in the survey indicated that they have internet access outside the school campus. The remaining 47% of the
students indicated that the only have internet access at the school campus..
If not, why do you think this is the case?
In my opinion most of the students cannot afford to buy data as it is expensive ,that is why most of them even prefer going to the internet caf on weekends and after school hours
rather than buying data. As the internet caf is still a cheaper alternative
Did socio-economic factors play a role in your findings?
I would say that they did play a role in my findings as not all families or parents get a high income and can afford to buy laptops and data bundles for their children.
Did everyone have the same level of skill in using technology?
NO, 43% of the students in the survey have excellent skills in using technology, 33% percent of them indicated that they have average skills in using technology and the remaining
24% indicated that they have poor skills in using technology.
Was there a correlation between the level of access available and skills?
There was a correlation between access to the internet and level of skills that the students possessed. Because all the students that specified that they only had internet access at
school ,mostly using it once a week either chose between having an average or low level of skills. The lack of access surely does have in impact on the internet skills that they possess.
