COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS

OF DOUBLE -WEDGE AIRFOIL

AT SUPERSONIC REGIME
USING CFD
BATCH MEMBERS
WHY THIS PROJECT ?
Double-wedge airfoil are very inefficient for
subsonic speeds, they create little lift at these
speeds, very sensitive to changes in the angle
of attack and also cause the stability of the
aircraft.
Our project is reducing the above problems by
our ideas.
ABSTRACT
Design and analysis of double-wedge airfoil in
CFD by locating the maximum thickness at
various percentage of chord.
Analyzing the stability and lift co-efficient of
double-wedge airfoil by locating maximum
thickness are 10% of the chord and located at
25,50,and 75 percentage of the chord
respectively.
Predict the result from analysis
INTRODUCTION
The two most important supersonic airfoil are
Double-wedge airfoil
Bi-convex airfoil
These airfoils are very thin and are usually
symmetrical.
FLOW OVER A DOUBLE-WEDGE AIRFOIL:
Due to their shape, these airfoils are able to
manipulate the supersonic shock waves in
such a way that shock waves are angled to
create less drag and so this cause a large
expansion fan.
The lift from these airfoils are generated from
the pressure difference between the shock
waves and the expansion fan, but mostly are
credited to the angle of attack.
