What is Force?

• Force is just a fancy word for pushing or pulling.

What is motion?

• Motion is simply just the change in

position of the body or object.

Scalar and Vector Quantities
• Scalar quantities are those
have a magnitude only while
vector quantities are those
have magnitude and
direction.
• Identify if it is scalar or
vector.
1. current
2. momentum
3. pressure
4. temperature
5. work

Uniform Accelerated Motion (UAM)

• Speed is the distance travelled

in a specific elapsed of time.
• Velocity is a speed in a given
direction.
• Acceleration is just change in
velocity.

Practice!
1. A car covers a distance of 750 meters at 25 seconds.
What is the car’s velocity?
2. A train moving to the east with a velocity of 15 km/hr.
Assuming that from the start, the velocity is constant at
12 minutes. What is the distance cover on that
constant velocity?

3. A train accelerates to a speed of 20 m/s at 5
seconds. Determine the acceleration (assume
uniform) of the train.

4. A car from rest start moving at the speed of 25 m/s and
covers a distance of 1.5 km in no traffic highway. What
time does the car covers the distance stated?

distance of 150 m. Determine the acceleration
(assume uniform) of the train.
6. From rest, a car accelerated at 8 m/s2 for 10
seconds. (a) What is the position of the car at the
end of the 10 seconds? (b) What is the velocity of
the car at the end of the 10 seconds?

accelerated at 8 m/s2 for 10 seconds. (a) What is
the position of the car at the end of 10 seconds? (b)
What is the velocity of the car at the end of the 10
seconds?

m/s to 20 m/s in 10 seconds. (a) What is the
acceleration of the bicycle? (b) What is the distance
was covered by the bicycle during 10 seconds?
10.What is the smallest distance, in meters, needed
for an airplane touching the runway with a velocity
